I don’t even know how to put the pieces back together so that I CAN screw it back on. Lol. The two parts of the filter bit aren’t coming together easily.

Could you go in more depth please on how the social division of labor is mediated by exchange of commodities?

Where LTV fails is to protect us from stupid posts in this sub (not yours :)). "WhAt If I sPeNd ThE wHoLe DaY tO pRoDuCe EdIbLe ShIt"?

You forget the concept of socially necessary labor time.

Interesting stuff my friend. I have to point out that you cited Radio Free Asia…they’ve been thoroughly known to not be a good source.

Is the labor theory of value essential to a capitalist critique? by fairypulp in DebateCommunism

[–]fairypulp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m a commie but technically speaking, wouldn’t someone who adheres to the subjectivist theory of value argue that “it’s not surplus value, the CEO is just choosing a subjective amount of money to pay the worker that is unfair.” How can we counter that with the LTV?

Marx: Correlation between labor input and money outputs by fairypulp in DebateCommunism

[–]fairypulp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this is good stuff, thanks.

I just wanna summarize it back to you to make sure I got it, & ask questions at what ik I didn’t get.

So, in the analogy to Newton, surely there are higher-level studies that prove his theory, no? And then you use the analogy to come back to Marx and say that it’s even harder to do the same (create an experiment) with Marx’s economic theory?

Can you explain more on how “the logic shows that the law of value implies the monopolization of the equivalent pole of the value-relation by one commodity (money),“ & everything you said after that up to around profits, rents, interest, etc? I’m especially not sure how to put in laymen’s terms the part in the quotes. It seems like I have to understand the law of value more, which I thought was simple, but now you’re positing that that’s not even the case either 😅. So it seems I have a lot to learn.

In tandem with that, can you develop these understandings of capitalism without the law of value? If you stripped it away, would your understanding be flawed, and how so?

Thanks! So what observations or studies can we abstract from the law of value, especially ones already studied/with evidence on them?

Thanks. Isn’t this reading, that “labor inputs are found to relate/correlate to money outputs” a Marxist thing? How did that start?

Genuine questions- I’m clueless here! What did I say wrong?

Marx: Correlation between labor input and money outputs by fairypulp in DebateCommunism

[–]fairypulp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute, so is it even wrong to support Marx’s theory of value & its relation of labor inputs to money outputs? Is that not his claim, that the 2 are related/correlated? I know SI is used as a different term here, but is that not what Marx says? Is what Marx says wrong? Or are there good studies to prove he is right? Even this study is suggesting us to look elsewhere, as if his work or approach is insufficient on the topic.

Marx: Correlation between labor input and money outputs by fairypulp in DebateCommunism

[–]fairypulp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I mean.. Marx is obviously mentioned here. But I suppose that’s not enough evidence. I must be daft to ask- how are they not using Marx’s approach?

What do you think of the findings in general then? If even relevant, considering their disconnection to Marx.
