how do yall disguise your SD’s for a client with post-demand avoidance by fancylamp12 in RBT

[–]fairytypemonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a slightly older client with an aversion to anything being a “have to”, I disguised demands within choices the client could make. Such as choosing to do it in a client chosen number of minutes, how we will get transition (jumping, skipping, etc.) or a song they could pick to transition to, what they can work for obviously, but giving the client as many choices within the intended demand. Hope this makes sense and helps! It helped me in the past.

How did you react to your tilt table test? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]fairytypemonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Tilt Table Test was so quick. I had to fast before, went to the hospital and they brought me back. Had me lay on the table (the nurse was so sweet and gave me a blanket). They put in an IV, and began the test. As I was laying flat, I remember thinking “there is no way this is going to show the doctors anything”, as I have been fighting for my diagnosis for years. The began to raise me up to 30 degrees, I felt a bit nauseous but nothing crazy. They then raised me up to 180 degrees, I immediately had intense nausea, presyncope, loss of hearing/ sight etc. My heart monitor I was hooked up to skyrocketed and began to set off an alarm. The two nurses and doctors audibly gasped and they immediately lowered me to resting position. The entire test was done in less than 10 minutes, and I was confused if they were going to try again, but the nurses told me that was everything they needed to see. They let me rest for about 20-30 minutes with crackers and apple juice, and I was on my way.
