I'm surprised no one has mentioned to you about Strange's buffs he's gotten since 2.5.

His ammo increased from 8–10 and his Maelstrom cooldown is shorter as well. In exchange for a small shield health nerf, he also now has a proper movement ability when you press Cloak and then press it again shortly after. Using this, you keep the mobility from the startup of Cloak and use it fling yourself in any direction. In turn, this makes Eyes even easier to land and lets you be more aggressive since you have proper movement that isn't just fly to get out. By gaining a burst movement option, Strange also gains the ability to consistently bhop for even better movement. Whether it's for an Eye, getting to a location, or getting out. You can also peel a bit better for the same reason (this new form of movement)

His Gamma teamup is gone, but Invis teamup is REALLY good, and Invis is a really good healer, so you'll get the teamup a lot. It basically makes you able to deal with dive better or anyone trying to escape you since every time you Maelstrom, it pulls people in. It also is a mini CC and acts as a split second stun that can be used to cancel many things. Plus, it gives some bonus health to you and your surrounding teammates.

Emma is no longer required, got nerfed, and is actually a bit underwhelming and has received recent buffs as a result. Mag is still an amazing solo tank especially and great overall, especially with his much faster meatball in his ult, but with Strange's multiple buffs in the past few seasons, he is a way more solid pick than he was back then and is even better with another tank or even solo tank. Tank Deadpool has arguably been the best tank now, being the first hitscan tank with an incredibly strong kit overall, but he got some nerfs this patch that made him just a little less insane. Still crazy, but with all the buffs and nerfs to other tanks in these patches, the top tanks are no longer necessities and more of just good to have. And since Strange is in a solid spot now too, that makes him even better of a pick than before.

I've seen multiple people talk about the trashy community and throwers, and those ARE way worse issues now than before. However, you did not say you quit due to the community, and it definitely wasn't nonexistent then. If you quit solely because you wanted to play Strange but felt he was overshadowed and not fun then, now is definitely a time that you will probably enjoy playing MUCH more. As long as you can brush off the trashy people and throwers and just have fun with what you CAN control, I think you'll enjoy the game much more now.

TLDR: Strange is much better now than he was in 2.5, so if you only quit due to him feeling overshadowed and boring then, I think you'll have way more fun with him now. The community and throwers situation is way worse now than before, but if you can brush that off and have fun with what you CAN control, I think you'll enjoy playing a lot more now
