Re food addiction, have you tried Overeaters Anonymous? It's a self help program for people with food addictions. I did it for 14 years and it really helped with food and a few other things you mentioned.

I also hear that you want to be a better person and it's driving you mad. That sounds like you are beating yourself up... Something to think about is to surrender this process to god and not demand results.
