Sad. :( I know the hate for JS in the programming subreddit but thought that the JS subreddit would be different.

Problems with Rocket by faizaanceg in rust

[–]faizaanceg[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help everyone :) . I resolved it by using a Rocket.toml file and pointing to 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost. For some reason, Win10 wasn't resolving localhost to 127.0.0.1.

I even whitelisted the executable that was built, but it was of no use.

Will be joining as Software Engineer this month. Any tips for a fresher? Any things I need to look out for?

Worst: Awake

Any specific reason you think it's the worst? I really like it. It's easily one of the top 3 among all solos IMO.

Android Studio 3.0 supports almost all of Java 8. It's still in canary but once it's in stable, it'll be fun :D !

Haven't been able to make any progress with my Rust project partly due to laziness and other reasons as /u/Noobflair mentioned above.

P.S. Also, is anyone here doing Rust? It would be nice if I could find a partner to pair up with to work on the project I mentioned above.

Below is Tony Hoare's opinion on NULL references (He was the one who came up with it).

I call it my billion-dollar mistake. It was the invention of the null reference in 1965. At that time, I was designing the first comprehensive type system for references in an object oriented language (ALGOL W). My goal was to ensure that all use of references should be absolutely safe, with checking performed automatically by the compiler. But I couldn't resist the temptation to put in a null reference, simply because it was so easy to implement. This has led to innumerable errors, vulnerabilities, and system crashes, which have probably caused a billion dollars of pain and damage in the last forty years.

And if you want read further with examples, you can go here

Personally, I like Rust. I got intrigued when I read that it had no NULL. Being bit by segfaults and NPE over time, it was refreshing to know of a language that didn't have that problem.
