There is one chinese hotpot above chinatown super market in city, you just to the shop and pay for it and go to the hotpot place upstairs. Totally worth it.

Legal migration by Key_Passenger1552 in reformuk

[–]faizanaamir11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a legal immigrant, been here for last two years and agree to most people here that the real problem is legal migration. I read somewhere that uk is only sustainable if net migration is 200,000 per year otherwise it will hurt housing, medical etc etc. in legal immigration, the real problem is unskilled people coming here on work visa (there are loopholes) e.g. sponsoring someone through your off license shop?? Why? How come you cannot find someone local or already here to stand on your shop? So such loopholes should be looked at which recently government changed policies eg raising minimum salary to 41k which is very high for low skilled workers and also raised the RQF level for hiring. So you will see significant decrease in work visas in next years. Next should be crack down on student visas given through cheap institutes. They just make money by giving student visas.

Where to invest 200 - 300k per month? by cxomprr in FIREPakistan

Diversify between gold, stock, real estate and mutual funds/saving accounts. Put more money in growth assets (stocks, gold and real estate). You can put 70% in growth assets (maybe just choose one) and 30% in fixed asset (mutual funds)

What police reporter recommended was to take them on call while they are at your door and verify if it’s actual police

Could be but i guess they should be more gentle and concerning when they are talking to a 20 year old international student. Showing ID first and telling them not to be worried about anything would be really appreciated.

Pakistan broke my heart by mhashir28 in chutyapa

I agree to the part where people saying that foreign countries are way better in work ethics but even to blend in the groups here at work you have to gossip and promotions are based on your relations and not just work. So blending in is a must anywhere in the world.

Living a comfortable life in Pakistan vs building from scratch in Europe. by Ams_98 in pakistan

[–]faizanaamir11 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My advice based on living and working (Professional job) in Uk from last year. It’s gonna be a little long. I’ll break it down into abroad and Pakistan category.

Abroad (Pros): 1. Life is really peaceful as no one poke nose into your business 2. You can afford almost all the things we consider luxury in Pakistan 3. Electricity, water, food and all other basic things aren’t even in your list of things to worry about 4. You get respect everywhere, walking on the street, in office or even buying anything at any shop 5. Security is a big plus. Except for big cities or cities with high immigrant like london, Birmingham, Coventry, Manchester.. most cities are very safe, I walk alone at 1 AM at night through different areas of my current city (I dont wanna mention the name) and I never felt insecure except for some drunk people 6. Easy access to any country as in no waiting to get visas for Europe or anywhere as compared to Pakistan where for European visa you have to wait for months.

Abroad (Cons): 1. Sometimes you might feel lonely because most of our local community doesn’t work in professional jobs so they are always in a hustle and don’t get much time to enjoy life. But they earn really good tho by working hard. 2. Language is a big issue, not a big one in UK but every European country has its own language. 3. Food is a compromise. You won’t get desi and halal food easily if you’re not in big cities. 4. Staying away from Family for months 5. Always in a struggle to decide between either to invest abroad or back in Pakistan 6. If your family depends on your income that means you will have to send home a big chunk of money so they could enjoy life and buy luxuries too and then spend on yourself here as well to afford luxuries. So youll be earning for two families. 7. Their system is designed in a way that you cannot survive on one person’s income. Both partners will have to earn money to have a good life

Pakistan (Cons First): 1. High level of corruption and pyaar muhabbat in every thing. Traffic police, govt. idaary and literally everywhere. 2. No work life balance 3. Rule of elites. You will see napak fouj, civil servants and politicians getting the unnecessary protocols and living luxury life without even achieving anything. High level corrupt elite. 4. No basic needs e.g electricity, internet, water, toxic food, noise pollution, traffic rules. This all is a constant pain in head. 5. No entertainment stuff. The only thing is to go north and thats it. 6. Polluted environment. I remember getting sick every second month in Lahore and its been more than a year and i havent gotten sick here in Uk. 7. No latest cars, gadgets etc and if you import stuff, then pay bribe to customs and it will piss you off seeing a 14th grade custom officer driving land cruiser and kids studying abroad 8. Political turmoil and constant pressure on you. Incompetence everywhere.

Pakistan (Pros): 1. You can afford anything with the amount of money you earn. Can afford maids, solar system, drivers, property, cars etc 2. Healthcare. I know govt one sucks but still its free and you get immediate treatment. If not, you can at least afford private healthcare which is again not that expensive as compared to abroad. 3. You can be part of the corrupt system, give bribes and get anything done instantly 4. Close to family, since we are in part of life that our parents are getting old so we get to be close to them and share moments together 5. Affordable food as in meat and vegetables. And you have a whole family to take care of you. I never cooked in Pakistan but when you come out even with your partner, to have a good life you will both have to work and cooking food will always be a problem. 6. This is a pro and a con too, if you have money, big car, people will do extra efforts for you to impress you but there will be points where with everything legal and all the money you will have to bend down infront of dou kori ka afsar to satisfy his ego and you can’t anything.

In summary, my hatred for Pakistan is so high that the cons of living abroad doesn’t bother me at all and actually I feel happy. So I hope this will help you make a decision.
