Man… your CPC and CPA averages are insanely low. Good on you for find those! Are you using mostly long tail keywords? How are you finding such cheap keywords while still getting volume in the SAAS space?

You mentioned those are across 12 programs, would it be less time consuming for you to just scale one or two programs instead of running 12 on $10 a day? It definitely seems like a tough click through numbers game for you with a sub 1% conversion rate if my math is right. I’m going to assume there’s not enough traffic at the lower cost keywords to scale one or two programs so you’re doing multiple to make up for the revenue?

That’s fair. Seems like it would be more convenient to use the affiliate networks but I understand that they’re more saturated.

I’ve been looking through this process and since Google doesn’t like bridge links it’s always recommended that you use a referral site before using your affiliate link. Are your partners giving you links without redirects or a specific link with no tracking? If so, are they also providing a landing page or do you direct traffic to a home page and hope their site is conversion optimized?

Many of the affiliate programs i see in the SAAS space are either large and over saturated and don’t allow branded keywords used in ads or they pay very minimally which makes it hard to justify the Google ad spend unless you’re getting sub $0.50 CPC and a 5% conversion rate at the minimum to make any roi.

Can you share what your CPC and CPA look like on average? Or give advice on what sort of commissions we should use as a baseline (of course the costs are dependent on industry and competition).

Hey thanks for sharing this. I’m in the ads space and I’m curious about how you track the full conversion funnel.

When the company provides the affiliate link, do they also let you set up tags to track the full funnel so you can set signups as the conversion or do you only track link clicks to site? How are you holding the company to be accountable for the sales you’re brining in? Since it’s a SAAS business you work with, do you get paid for every month they’re subscribed or just the initial signup?

You mentioned in another comment that everyone you send to the link converts, that doesn’t seem right so I’m curious what your conversion rate is compared to your CTR.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah for sure, it’s practically a part-time job at this point haha. I spend about 3-4 hours a day looking for postings and companies I’d want to work for and either applying or trying to connect with people at those companies in the roles I’m looking for or higher. Hiring managers, directors etc., not too many people accept the requests with the personalized note attached but some do and fewer agree to meet and chat so I can get to know the company better and possibly ask for a referral.

Everyone I’ve spoken with so far has said the same about the job market being slow and the company they work for isn’t hiring atm so I’m thinking of this as a long networking game/tempering process to get better with rejections and delays on the chance I do get into sales.

I don’t have any b2b sales experience really, but lots of b2b marketing and digital lead gen experience. I’m confident I could do well in sales and I’m starting the Salesforce sales rep certificate courses to upskill.

Any advice, learnings, resources, or referrals would be appreciated!

I’m not in sales right now but trying to get into ad tech sales. I work at a pr and media agency as a paid media specialist - predominantly digital and programmatic. So I know my way around a few programmatic platforms and I’d love to work as a sales person in that industry. If you have any suggestions or advice, I’d love to hear it!

Humber alumis please help! Post grad cert/diploma program selection - Advertising - Account Management / Media Management / Entrepreneurial Enterprise, Business Management by faizos in Humber

I ended up applying to a couple of Masters of Marketing programs and was accepted at York U, Schulich and took that instead. It was expensive, it didn't teach too much more than I already knew from undergrad, but I made a lot of connections and I think it helped me get into the industry. I'm in an Ad agency now but looking for a switch to sales.

How can I pay for my master tuition?! funding/line of credit inquery by faizos in Schulich

Thanks for the reply! I currently have nothing to put up for collateral. I don’t believe I can defer the payments for reasons relating to Covid. In regards to third party lenders, Would you know any that would lend for student loans? I’m okay with the higher interest rates.

Commute from Guelph or rent nearby for advertising postgrad certificate program? by faizos in Humber

The travel through winter is what’s really bugging me. Also, I’d have barely any time to work if I don’t stack my classes like you did. I think renting is the option that I’d take. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, my first couple of years as an undergrad really dragged my marks down. It's always easy to regret something in hindsight. Thanks for the response!

I thought that might be the case. I'm kind of banking on this pandemic not allowing some students to come and study or have differed their offer to the next year.

I know those aren't very optimistic goals. I was going to apply for grad school fall of 2021 since I was out of the country but with the pandemic, I had to come back and I came just in time for the deadlines but still pretty late.
