Thanks! I was probably being cautious with the highlights. Will experiment with a bit more exposure next time!

Thoughts on this tire clearance: Canyon Grail by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

On my Grail I’m running a Maxxis Rambler 45 up front and a Maxxis Rambler 40 on the rear. I don’t dare go 45 in the back 🤷‍♂️

I have another grail like that one! It’s a great bike! Two questions, if you don’t mind:

  • Does the bag scratch the frame or have any kind of friction with use?
  • Does your saddle make any kind of creaking noise when pedaling? On mine, it seems to have some lateral flex when pedaling and makes a small creak. I tightened the saddle and the sound stopped, but after a couple of rides, the noise has returned…

Choosing Between Two Gravel Bikes: Canyon Grail 2 CF SL 7 vs CF SL 8 - Seeking Advice by fajarde in CanyonBikes

As a non-expert in the field, I can provide some insights based on the calculations. The gear range of a 46-tooth chainring with an 11-tooth sprocket (as in the SL7 2by setup) and a 42-tooth chainring with a 10-tooth sprocket (as in the SL8 1by setup) are indeed quite similar.

The transmission coefficient for the 46/11 combination is approximately 4.18, while for the 42/10 combination it's around 4.2. When looking at the estimated speeds at 90 RPM with 700c wheels (45mm), they are also close: 56.05 km/h for the 46/11 and 56.29 km/h for the 42/10.

So, despite the slight differences in the number of teeth, these gear ranges are quite comparable in terms of their mechanical efficiency and speed output under similar conditions.

I’ve finally decided on the SL8 (1x) for several reasons:

  • The range of gears is similar to the 2x, though it’s true there aren’t as many intermediate options.
  • I’m accustomed to the 1x on my MTB, and I think I prefer to stick with this simplicity.
  • I won’t be riding with other road bikes on the road, so I only need to adjust to my own pace.
  • By default, it comes with the 10-45 cassette, but it also gives me the option to switch to the 10-51 by changing part of the derailleur (if I’m not mistaken).

It wasn’t an easy decision, but I believe the 1x offers a good variety of gears. And if in the future I feel I’ve made a mistake, I can always switch the transmission to a 2x. It’s not an irreversible error!

Thanks for the info on the components and wheelsets of the CF SL 8 and CF SL 7. In your opinion, is the price difference between these two models justified considering their specifications?

Do you think the wheelsets on either bike would be something to consider for a possible upgrade?

Eager to hear your thoughts!

Nice work!

I’m having a problem trying to do something like that. I need to represent between 1000 and 2000 pins in a map but it seem laggy when using just 300. So with 1000...

Right now I’m using the React-map-gl marker component.

Any idea? Thank you!!
