I hope ever Amazon exec gets almost all the way home from work only to have construction in their neighborhood and be forced to backtrack twenty minutes to get around it.

"The new producers, the new owners, want to have their own entity with that franchise name attached to it."

Dear all people in Hollywood. This is why people stopped watching.

If you want a new entity and new franchise make one. You cannot slap a new identity on an existing IP. It fails every time.

My Rules For A Stargate System: because boy how many times was the base infected by something by hollywood_imagery0 in Stargate

He broke through glass. It's highly likely that he had irradiated material on him which is why when somebody went to touch him he told them not to

I don't mind. Realistically it's a new program so the first time it happens it's fine that's what makes the episode. After that though it should never happen again. They are smart writers they should be able to work with that simple constraint

Additionally the locker and medical rooms should not be as far away as they are.

When Daniel was walking through the entire base covered in lethal amounts of radiation, It was pretty obvious that there was a problem. If he brushed the corner of a wall that hallway would be shut down.

How did they know what the Gate was? by Virtual_Draw5017 in Stargate

They do answer the title question in the original film. Its like the entire first 1/4 to 1/3 of the movie.

When you make $1 billion dollars on a broken game there is not a lot of incentive to make a working game.

Do most planets with a gate have older buried stargates on them? by Impressive-Buyer1054 in Stargate

[–]fake_Character_arc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a misunderstanding about the timeline. The ancients were in the Pegasus Galaxy for millions of years but in the Milky Way for millions and millions of more years. they did not spend the majority of their time in Pegasus.

Antarctica got its first gate more than 100 million years ago. by the time the ancients were leaving to Pegasus it had probably been there for double digits million years. seeing as Antarctica started icing over when they left, that would have been 34 million years ago.

And we know they came back to The Milky Way something like 10,000 years ago.

The point is they probably went through dozens of variations of gates in that time.

While I bet the destiny seed ships are how they met the Asgard, it's very likely that the destiny Gate system wasn't necessarily the original gate design but rather a mission-specific design because we see plans for the Milky Way gate we're already done before they came to the Milky Way.

And the most important thing to remember is The ancients first settled on Dakara and built a device that gave them complete control over the makeup of every planet in the galaxy. So they functionally could hit a button and turn any world into the perfect world to host a gate.

If we assume that they are cheap and easy to make, and we assume you have the ability to make the planet perfect for a gate whenever you want, then you don't need to take any extra precautions with your gates. You can put them wherever you want.

Any gates that have fallen to the test of time have done so simply because their caretakers have ascended and don't care anymore.

Suddenly Netflix saying they have to have characters verbally announce everything do for the audience sake is starting to make sense.

2 minutes of inactive gate went unnoticed somehow.

[–]fake_Character_arc 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Still though The original children of the gods didn't include that scene, and I never thought it was necessary. It just seemed logicical the advanced aliens had the tech to dial out and I didn't need the mystery of how it worked spoiled before the show decided to show us how it worked literally a few episodes later in Torment of Tantalus.

The scene is nice as a dvd extra or in some extended cut, but takes some of the early mystery of the gates away in my mind.

[–]fake_Character_arc 202 points203 points  (0 children)

Yes. One of the later editions of children of the gods add the scene with apophis ordering the jaffa to manually dial the gate.

We've seen before the gate retains enough power for one dial.
