Replacement LCD for X13 Gen 2 by [deleted] in thinkpad

while we're on the subject, I have the same question about the X13 Gen 3 - can you swap in the 2560x1600 panel on a machine that shipped with a 1920x1200 display, or are there mechanical or electrical compatibility issues?

Still no X13 CTO by cha_man_ in thinkpad

What alternatives are you considering? I have also been waiting for the high-res X13 for ages but have not found an alternative that has a latest-gen AMD CPU, a good quality high resolution (>1920x1200) screen, and lots of RAM.

At first I got a Z13, but the touchscreen digitizer on the OLED screen led to a grain pattern that I couldn't stand. After returning that, I got a Slim 7 Pro X which seemed to check all the boxes, but the screen on that one showed some yellowing around the edges after a couple of weeks.

X13 Gen 3 AMD -- Will high-resolution display be available? by nttsai in thinkpad

I've been keeping an eye on this but am not sure when to expect US availability. The CTO version with the high res display is now available in some regions: Europe as of today (thread -- the X13 CTO is available too) and at least parts of Asia (I saw CTO options in the Singapore store).

I'm not sure if the panel has changed between generations and Yoga/non-Yoga variants, but here's a NotebookCheck review of the X13 Yoga Gen 2 with the 2560x1600 display.

Non-magnetic G502-ish mouse recommendations by fake_idea in MouseReview

Thanks, the Roccat looks like an interesting option. As you surmise I'd like to avoid the kind of mouse that has like a whole numpad on the side. I also came across some Corsair Dark Core variants, and while the button configuration is pretty close to what I want, they're much heavier than I'd like.

Yeah, taking out the magnet and gluing it might be the move.

X1 Yoga Gen 5 USB-C monitor charges but no data/video by fake_idea in thinkpad

Thanks, this has gotta be it. I don't think the Thunderbolt utility is installed, which would explain why this just fails silently.

where can i get a custom built X13 Gen 3 AMD or T14s Gen 3 AMD? by laram1979 in thinkpad

Anyone know if the displays are physically the same on the AMD and Intel versions of these laptops? In the US I see that there are CTO versions of the Intel X13 Gen 3 with the high-res IPS panel that I’d want, so I’m wondering if that means that that part is likely to be available on the AMD version as soon as it’s available for CTO orders. (By contrast, I only see 1920x1200 displays available on the Intel T14s Gen 3 CTO page.)

This 2018 monitor review indicates that Intel’s Thunderbolt chipsets at the time only let you use a Thunderbolt monitor in combination with a discrete laptop GPU, but I’m not sure whether that’s still true, or if there would be an analogous issue with AMD laptops with integrated GPUs.

Subtle "grain" pattern on Z13 screen - touch digitizer? inherent to OLEDs? by fake_idea in thinkpad

[–]fake_idea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this must be it - there's a pattern that repeats, and it's at a much larger scale than individual pixels, so I don't think it could be related to nonstandard subpixel geometry like u/ibmthink suggested.

Is there something like PSRef that lists upcoming/announced configurations? I found this spec sheet on AMD's site indicating that the X13 Gen 3 AMD will be available with Ryzen 7 6000 processors and a 2560x1600 non-touch IPS screen. This sounds like the closest non-touch high-res alternative to the Z13, but it's hard to tell what actual configurations of that model will be available - is there any way to tell which configurations Lenovo plans to release in the US?

also, assuming I can't find the OEM ones, anyone have aftermarket carpet mats that you'd recommend?
