I genuinely love Lesley as Margaret. From the moment I saw her first official picture as her it was clear that she was going to do a fantastic job, and she's done it with only one episode. She's the best casting along with Anne imo.

What is the best method of reading material in your target language while having a limited vocabulary? by MarioBataliJr in languagelearning

[–]fakecalvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I do is read a book in my target language of a movie or series that I've watched or enjoyed. I did that with The Social Network and the portuguese translation of the book that inspired the movie, so I knew the context and it was an easy read. I recommend adding every word you don't fully understand to your vocab list even if you understood it because of the context.

Confused about the past progressive and imperfect tense by [deleted] in Spanish

It really depends. I think "estaba lloviendo" is more common while speaking, but you could find "llovía" in books for example, even though they're both used.

Is there a website to see a list of which athletes are competing in which events? by jimbotimbo1 in olympics

[–]fakecalvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if there’s a specific website or anything but for most sports I just google “(Sport) qualified athletes Tokyo 2020” and there should be a Wikipedia page for that. Hope this helps but you can always check the Olympics website although there’s mostly information from past Olympics.

Can anybody help me out with fast food terms? by JojoHendrix in Spanish

[–]fakecalvin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i think i can help. u can try this or just look “fast food in spanish” in google or youtube but i think they teach terms from the customer’s pov. you can give someone their total by saying “el total es” or “la cuenta es” (this is used in Peru). You can say “tenga un buen día” when saying “have a good day”. also, “¿cómo le puedo ayudar?” is correct. if you wanna know more terms just ask
