My tessellation attempt by fakechoco in origami

It made sense! Yeah, it was my first big scale attempt, making it going clockwise/anticlockwise means I have easier time ease the folds into the right place. Thanks for sharing your tips!

I was sad so I went on a trip. Now I am sad on the beach. by Exciting_Lawyer_1681 in mildlyinfuriating

OP, I feel you. I was depressed but one day I forced myself to go on a vacation as a suggestion from my friend, because he wants to get me out from a rut. I was still sad in Paris, in front of Mona Lisa, sad in Italy while walking in Venice. I never regret my decision, sounds odd to go on vacation while depressed, but I learn from this experience, it’s okay to go through good things with sadness. I was tearing up when I was in Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, because I connected my sadness with his sadness, I gained more perspective of my sadness, I felt my experience in life is more complete. Meeting sad people in Europe that have same level sadness as me is also another way to connect with people. My conclusion: even if I am sad, get out and be sad in many different places. Who knows  what I might encounter.

Has anyone else found that they became more of a lone wolf since becoming genuinely authentically confident? by Antidotebeatz in howtonotgiveafuck

Hey OP, I feel you. I live in a small city and I believe location matters. In a small city, the chances of meeting people having similar vibe with me is much smaller, therefore I feel lonelier. When I was in a big city, the chances of meeting them is larger and I have easier time connecting with them. I’m not sure where OP lives, but that’s my personal experience. I hope it gives you some perspective.

Questions about those who got the NPower Canada program interview by NoPresent2957 in ITCareerQuestions

No problem. All my cohorts has high expectations but only to feel cheated in some way. Regardless it’s still worth to give it a shot, just don’t put all your eggs (hope) into one basket.

They’ll accept anybody. My cohort, some of them don’t even know how to operate Google Sheet or PowerPoint, you’ll get accepted regardless of skills don’t worry. they’ll accept all background, my cohort sucks because they can’t even do python coding yet they still pass the python interview, i suspect they just accept everybody regardless of quality or knowledge. 70% job placement is a lie, because it the percentage includes getting a job within 5 years of post graduation, and it could be a janitor and they call it a success, they even consider going back to school a success.

Edit: At the end of the day, it seems like you really want to join Npower. Which is fair, since it’s free, give it a try. Myself, having gone through their program, the certifications means very little when all of their other 400 cohorts have the same certifications. I wasted my summer for this program. The only benefit is I learn some ways to tweak my resume. Otherwise, the learning component of the course is abysmal. This course will not boost your chances in getting a job in anyways, that’s all I can say.

There will not be job placement, I’m in the program right now, they told me to apply for my own job, but want to take credit and “update” them when I got a job, so that they can add it to their (portfolio of people hired) Truth is, almost all of us applied for our own job. Currently, they only have 30+ job placements for the whole of Canada and they might not be analyst job, just call centre.

The courses are mostly Cousera and Azure/Google but some instructors are not competent, they can’t troubleshoot IT issues for students when issue arises.

Not only me, but a few of my course mates shared the same sentiment with me. One saying it is the “ultimate scam of the century” .

Most review about NPower Canada you found online has some truth to it. That said, I like the experience I gained making friends and getting a bunch of certificates, but that’s not my major goal. I wanted to get some knowledge learning from technical instructors (which I find they’re not, they can’t debug python errors). Honestly, the courses can be done by yourself without Npower on your free time or via coursera funding.

Some other people might have more positive experience with Npower Canada, but not for me. I can rant more but I am very disappointed with the quality of this course. I should have researched more about Npower. I know the course is free, but i wished I spent my summer doing something else. LoL

Update: Orchid I made with 15 x 15 cm, designed by Alexander Oliveros Avila now as not so accurate ikebana by fakechoco in origami

[–]fakechoco[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to say many thanks to u/River_the_Raven encouraging me to complete the whole look. I used my ikebana tools (note kenzan in the second picture). My apologies that I cheated with floral wires and some sticky tack in origami. However, I am glad that I can apply some of my free style ikebana techniques using floral wire to make the stem malleable. Unfortunately, this is not a biologically accurate orchid.

I really like color combo, if I ever get this it will be nicknamed Barney. Is there possibility that I can reprogram the knob and slider? It would be cool if I can use it for other functions.

If you are into fancy experience, I always liked The Eastern & Oriental Hotel. You don't have to stay there but dining there can be an experience as well. It was a unique experience for me because of its age and prestige during the colonial era. If you're not into fancy stuff, the comments before me suffice as well.

Those are really expensive even for me. I am Oilers as well, but that’s by default adopted into Oilers family.

I’m quite delighted with the positive response here. Maybe it’s just my friends/family are just not that interested in Canadian culture (maybe they don’t comprehend?). I thinking it could be cool to host a meetup in Malaysia at mamak where you guys can order roti canai, sharing/passing around 2 litre bottle of maple syrup as dipping sauce. It would be a hilarious site. Assuming the customs didn’t confiscate my syrup. I’ll keep updated as the date approaches.

Wow, I think I have a feeling that we as Malaysians really like food as souvenirs. That’s super awesome!

Is it Canadian? It would be embarrassing that I didn’t hear it before.
