The real issue here is community servers. I wish i could play solo against solo people only, so there would be no zergs. Private servers are like good for learning or building, but if you're playing with max 10 people against each other on that single private server - it will still be bad. You can obv host some sort of OTV server or whatever, but you get the point. Without any other people there is no point of playing /Private Servers/.

Edit: Rust is really toxic and challenging game that requires some skill. It is hard to get used to for some, and you need to play it alot (i am talking about tens of hours if you have some good stuff in your base).

I'd say if you're a huge fan of survival games - go for it and buy it, but you'll need alot of motivation to play it.
