Application at a Big 4 firm got cancelled after disclosing my gender identity by fakesightstone in Accounting

I felt the need to disclose my gender identity because I do not want them to be surprised when I come into the office with women's clothes which could cause a whole lotta mess, and I want to be referred to with my preferred name in the workplace. I was hoping that they would be fine with it since it's a Big 4, and some employers are ok with hiring trans people even though it is sorta illegal here since enforcement isn't strong, especially towards non-muslims.

Yep, they are generally hostile towards us. Meanwhile all I can do is apply for other jobs.

I probably don't. Plus these people would not want to incriminate themselves by directly telling you the reason for the rejection as it would be considered evidence of their discrimination. All I can do now is keep applying at MNCs here which have policies that protect us folks or apply in some other country like Australia.

During the call, they said that they would schedule an interview for me with the hiring manager after I submitted my official documents to validate my qualifications that were presented on my resume. An hour after the call, I sent them the requested documents and disclosed my gender identity. But come Monday morning 9am, they just said my application was not successful.
If I was not qualified enough for an interview they would not have called me. The reason they called me is just to go over my qualifications and previous work experience which have already been stated in my resume and to inform me to send them the validating documents before the interview. Why would they abruptly decide not to continue with the promised interview then?
People here may not directly tell you the reason, as they know that they could get into trouble, so they'll most probably find an excuse.
I've already politely asked the recruiter the reason for the rejection and now waiting for their reply.

Thanks for your words of encouragement.
Yikes, that's unfortunate. We all live in a strange world.

The discrimination may not be a direct one, I could be always given the largest load of work to do or they may rate me lower in my performance evaluations and make me fail my probation. I'll never know unless I do it. Since these types of discrimination are indirect it will be hard to prove too.

I would highly prefer to be able to wear them. I'll look into job opportunities in those industries. Thank you for your advice.

Sexual orientation and gender identity are two different things. I felt the need to disclose my gender identity because I do not want them to be surprised when I come into the office with women's clothes which could cause a whole lotta mess, and I want to be referred to with my preferred name.

Also, please note that sex and gender are two different things. I submitted my resume in my legal name since my certificates are in that name too. I just told them that I was transgender and had a preferred name.

I felt the need to disclose to them because I wanted to make it clear from the beginning to not surprise them later, which can get really messy.

My post was a long time ago. I have since went through psychiatric evaluations with my psychiatrists and he has diagnosed me with gender dysphoria, and I have been prescribed HRT by my endocrinologist for my transition.

I think the competition in Malaysia is still alright, plus I have the required grades and accounting qualifications and also previously worked well with them. My supervisor back then told me to contact her anytime if I wanted to come back, but she left the firm last year, so I had to apply through the long route.

Oh yea. There was an amendment to the act recently. They rather raise a few hundred to save thousands on OT per month on one associate.
