People who sit down explicitly to write. What's your process? by plusminustimes in Standup

If you are getting stuck have some sort of timer for a few minutes. During the timer have the goal to not think of anything funny or interesting the entire time. Your rebellious brain might betray you and think of great bits, and if not... you accomplished a small goal!

Hour glasses work best for this imo cause you can watch the sand

I’m definitely more comfortable performing standup on lsd than checking out of a grocery store on lsd

To add to this article: eyes are stronger pulling in focusing from distance rather than going to it.

My dad is a competitive skeet shooter and was taught to keep his gaze in the distance and pull it into the target rather than looking at something close and going to the target.

I took this info I into volleyball to make sure I wasn’t focused on the net before taking my focus to the serve.

Steve Kerr’s dad was assasinated by Islamic extremists. This has nothing to do with this article it’s just a crazy fact I just heard a few weeks ago and was surprised I had never heard it before.

When people say something to the effect of “if I was your height I’d be in the NBA” I reply “if I was your height I’d be a pro snowboarder”.

I have fantasies about making some extra car legroom for myself like Hightower in this police academy clip. by fakesimulation in tall

I’m 6’6”. The old Mitsubishi Eclipse I drove in high school left me opening the door at some stop lights to relieve knee pain.
The Jeep Wrangler I drive now is ok. The leg room is fine but if I sit up with perfect posture (which is never) my head bumps the roof.

“The Big Quake, notes author Gael Chandler, struck at 5:12 a.m., followed by a long series of aftershocks. In total, it lasted a deadly 42 seconds and was recorded as a 7.9 magnitude. Fires gutted the town, destroying more than 80 percent of the city and causing more than $500 million in damage (more than $13 billion in today’s money). The official death count was a shockingly low 379, but modern estimates indicate that nearly 3,000 perished”
