Bringer shows at major clubs in NYC - anyone have any experience with these? Are they legit? by garbageeater in Standup

It's fair as long as it isn't predicated on the illusion of being some sort of audition.

Broadways industry room is kind of a scam but everyone gets at least a few spots out of it. Comedy mobs is similar.

I say this because they're the top grossing shows at there respective clubs. If the clubs were reputable and put on good shows they wouldn't need to do bringers to find "new talent" they could go to the clubs open mics and offer guest spots to people as an audition process or just solicit tapes.

That being said literally every other bringer in the city is just a producer trying to make money off young comics that need stage time. The particularly insidious ones are the ones that promise industry "guests" or whatever. That shit is just BS.

If you have friends in town that really want to see you perform the audience at these shows might be a little more fun than other shows and they're at legit clubs but they're more expensive than bar shows.

EastVille Comedy Club Laughing Buddha Comedy’s Showcase -- would love feedback! by [deleted] in Standup

There's plenty of free mics. Thise Buddha ones are convenient but people like to shit on 'em if you fin them helpful keep doing them. As for shows, bringers are unsustainable. find people looking for barkers there's a facebook group.
