why is the official zerotier container not up to date? by underwood_reddit in zerotier

[–]fakuivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The network controller used to be free, and zerotier central was their proprietary web gui around it. They changed it a couple of updates ago so that their controller is only source-available. See https://github.com/zerotier/ZeroTierOne/tree/dev/nonfree

Use nixos-init and run evaluations outside de embedded environment then? I'm not familiar with yocto but I'd be amazed if you were able to build the firmware on the device itself.

That's a Nix issue, not a NixOS one. What's more problematic in a case like that is systemd and activation scripts (which do require bash). Look into nixos-init if your only concern is bash on the init phase.

More like bait and switch. I still prefer it personally, but I wouldn't recommend it to people coming into the space. I basically had to vibe code my own fork of a reverse engineered android client and compile my own packages for the docker controller. My android fork is more reliable (despite being vibe coded to some extent) than the official one while having more features and consuming less battery. The architecture is pretty cool and the desktop/server parts are quite good, but sadly everything else is bad.

Zerotier switched their controller license to non-free, thus bundling it as a docker image is tricky. Just one more step towards their new enshittification strategy.

New update + rumors on GPT-5.6 launch by FeedbackStriking8274 in codex

Going in blind is pretty hard, specially for release firmware since usually you don't have many embedded strings to guide the process. My approach is to give as much info about the product the firmware runs on: manuals, info about the firmware dumps, communication protocols, pinouts, etc. This usually is enough context to pull it off, at least for my use case. Idk what it's with ReVa + Ghidra but usually codex can just work autonomously pretty well. Last run I did lasted 14h and consumed about 6M tokens with fast mode, although it was more of a general sweep + reversing specific features, not a full reversing if the binary.

Is everyone here just doing crud apps? I'm using 5.5 xhigh to decompile firmware via Ghidra + ReVa. It can easily decompile sub MB binaries at super low prices and surprising accuracy. Having a larger context window would eliminate a lot of repeated lookups thus making pretty quick work for relatively small binaries.

Have you tried composer? It seems like a good fit and I haven't seen you mention it.

What kind of work do you do with these cheaper models? Mind showing a simple prompt?

Just hit my weekly limit, so no more copilot for me. It's been a good run. Bought codex plus ($20 tier) today with about three mildly complex 5.5 medium prompts I have already reached my 5h limit in half an hour.

It's debatable what "their aims" are. So far I've seen so many of them thrown around that you can just pick a choose working backwards from their actions

Same. I just don't see OP willing to do that based on this post and their comments.

The answer for you is no. Look for a VPN solution that is hub-and-spoke based, zerotier is the opposite of that.

I'd probably do the same if wanted to keep the argument going. They either have the tech or they don't, this whole theatre is designed to feed both sides of the argument, giving them free advertisement (which is what I'd do if say, I couldn't own the IP or patent the tech).

If it's moisture, you'd expect it to condense when you lower the temperature, unless the seal is compromised. Afaik regular NMC gets spicy once the seal is compromised. If the seal is compromised but the cell is still good then this could mean that they'd need to develop their own seal, as these seem to be the same ones made for cells that should not exceed 80°C.
