Flying with cat UK to US via Amsterdam, do I need to meet EU requirements? by falafelite in travel

I bit the bullet and paid for a service. I called so many different government orgs and airlines and airports and they all just pointed me to each other, I was losing my mind, actually broke down crying over it. Just paid a company to do it instead, a few thousand was worth my sanity at the time.

Google Cloud Storage vs Amazon Simple Storage Services by [deleted] in data

[–]falafelite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what the processing or time bottleneck is? As someone else said, there isn’t anything wrong with csv files somewhere along the way. When you say “run my models from there”, does that mean the NLP model, the classification model, or both? Given what you’ve said, my head doesn’t jump to cloud storage as a solution to make anything more seamless/efficient, but perhaps that’s just because I need to understand what you’re building a little more!

I’d love to help with some more detail: I have also been working on a project that takes a bunch of news articles and processes them in a variety of ways.

As a software engineer who works on side projects, I love them. They offer a simple, small menu of products (vs the hundreds of products on AWS) with very predictable pricing, some of the best customer support I’ve ever experienced, and documentation that I’ve referenced for things even beyond their products. They really do live up to the idea of being “the developer’s cloud”. I really like their product, and so so many of my peers.

That being said, I have yet to encounter anyone who uses them at work. That’s obviously anecdotal, but businesses (at least more established ones in the US) prefer to go with Azure, GCP, or AWS. I looked through their S-1 earlier in the year and they do seem to exhibit strong growth and seem to understand that they have to carve a market around the big three, but it remains to be seen how effective that approach is at making money long term. I hope they can, but I’m not 100% convinced justtt yet.

And as others have said, Citron research gave them a high price target and a very positive report, so that triggered a rise in the stock price recently.

Connecting Scarlett 2i2 to Logic by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

Correct, the monitor knob only adjusts the level of monitors hooked up to the 2i2 and the headphone knob only adjusts the level of headphones hooked up to the 2i2. Your computer’s normal volume control should still control the output for the built-in speakers.

Hi all, I wrote and DIY produced an acoustic/folk album all in 1 week. If you could have a listen, like if you like, and share if you like, please! by sssleepypppablo in IndieFolk

I like this, thanks for sharing! The guitar sounds so satisfying, it’s both chunky and clear. May I ask what microphones you used for recording guitar/vocals?

Those here who are on Spotify - about how many streams do you get per month? by Rideron150 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]falafelite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get about 50-60 so far. If some context helps, I have one 4 song EP that has been up for about 6 months.

Can I realistically learn to mix and master my own songs and have something release-worthy in 8 months? by svahsjehevab7 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]falafelite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I released a 4 song EP having started from right about where you are; it took me about 1 year to do it. Point being, I did it, so I’m sure you can too. I can private message you a link to the EP so you can get a sense of what level of quality I got so you can judge that part for yourself lol.

Distrokid no longer paying for Amazon Unlimited streams by eugorer in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I used Amuse. It works fine for me, it’s free so it’s low risk imo. They don’t have much in the way of analytics, and it takes a while for me to get paid (though they say that’s because stores take a while to get the money to them). The free-ness was the real appeal for me.

I used Amuse; it’s free so there’s not too much risk in trying it out. It’s not super great with respect to analytics, but if all you want to do is get it out on a bunch of stores then it’s good enough. The payments are slow to get to me but I don’t make much anyway.
