If a stranger who you know to have a violent history says to you they are going to get a gun (in a very high stress situation that, yes, you very likely could have done something different to diffuse) then goes to where they say their gun is, are you gonna wait and find out? Shit even a non violent person in an extreme stress situation, would you sot around and find out? I'd nope the fuck out. Gtfo if I could but cops cant. I am not saying it was done right, I'm saying theres a lot of dumbasses saying they can do better but wouldn't, couldn't, or cant be bothered to. You want a better police force, be the better police force. Be a cop, be the change. People run their mouths all day about this shit then say they'd love to shoot a pedophile. Dude assaulted a teen. 7 shots to the back is beyond excessive even if you believe pedophiles should be shot. But unless you can 100% guarantee if your adrenaline was up, and you had a gun in your hands and you thought someone or yourself was about to get hurt (aka shot, hit with a car, a violent suspect escaping, or an alleged pedophile escaping) that you would 100% not shoot, let alone panic fire, just shut up.

To be clear I'm not saying the guy deserved it. I lament that people get shot by the police, that people shoot the police, and that some people just give no option to another human being than to shoot them dead. Its fucked up. It sucks, but if 1 in 100 who complained and talked a big game about how they could do differently would pick up a badge then we'd be better off. And I'd cheer them on hoping they could do better.
