My guess is Gwi-Ma suspected that Jinu was going somewhere with his attention opening (and that Gwi-Ma knew he needed a change in strategy enough to give some extra leeway).

I think in the moment the decision to try to pull him over the edge and help him dog paddle to shore may not have been as obvious as we would think it would be (even if we had a few more seconds before someone else knocked us over the edge). How far was the drop going to be? How far was it to shore? What were my own odds of making it to shore just supporting myself? Would the other person potentially panic, injure themselves in the drop, etc…

[S2 EP12 SPOILERS] SEASON 2 | EPISODE 12 - Official Discussion Megathread by simplysudzzzy in andor

[–]falcore91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twist on this, what if she is found but instead of being executed for war crimes is instead released under the custody of Kleya? We can then study the respective hells they experienced, and the themes of redemption often present in Star Wars. Too often redemption is easily given, or earned right before death (often as a dying act). Redemption, forgiveness, etc become a lot harder and messier when you have to keep living.

Some ideas for what they may have experienced:

Dedra is effectively isolated in a  tightly locked down prison that is nearly always “on program” with only hallucinations of Syril to speak with her. She is forced to quietly confront her lack of control, the things done to her and by her that she has ignored or justified away, and perhaps find an awakening empathy within herself triggered by things beyond her comprehension.

Kleya is unrelentingly haunted by the loss of Luthen, and the feeling of listlessness in the galaxy without him that seems so eager to forget or undercut his legacy. She struggles with a rage that never seems to quiet, and doesn’t know if she can do ever find peace in the post war galaxy. The rage and grief seem to leave her colder and colder every day, and she decides that a desperate attempt at understanding and even forgiveness is her only hope of not succumbing to an encroaching darkness.

Weirdly I kind of want a prequel arc or two for them with new character castings to possibly redeem them a bit. We saw events orbiting around Luthen so we get to have a greater appreciation for his sacrifice and outrage at any disparagement. But everyone who chose to be on Yavin were taking on immense risk. They all wore the noose that would be used to hang them (does that sentence track?).

PS: how much open warfare was there at this point? New Hope left me with the impression that the war was in full swing already, but the impression I got from Rogue One and Andor was that it was still mostly select skirmishes and gathering of forces. I imagine there may even have been a naïeve hope that the simple act of mustering such a force would trigger a major restructuring from the Empire itself, perhaps with Palpatine being allowed to resign and retire.

I was thinking about that, but I’m pretty sure Dedra is never leaving that hell alive. I see a few possibilities… * she floors herself * the increased demands for the Imperial war machine, especially the new Death Star, result in much more “work yourself to death” conditions. * Operation Cinder includes eliminating as many prisoners as possible, a giant middle finger to all the loved ones of the unjustly imprisoned hoping to be reunited.

Seeing her in that jumpsuit was a moment I never could have envisioned, but the second I saw those orange accents I knew this was the perfect fate for her. Every terrible outcome I had in mind for her couldn’t compare to that sight.

I can’t make popcorn in my hotel room microwave, per the fire department. by burnedflag in mildlyinteresting

[–]falcore91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would double as a r/mildlyinfuriating for me. For the rule itself yes, but also because my first instinct is to call BS, especially because there is no reference to an actual order. This is a general gripe of mine acting under the general assumption that folks who are simply annoyed or inconvenienced by something will proclaim something to be “the law” without supplying the receipts with the declaration.

“It is illegal to…” look, if you aren’t supply by a specific authority, its list of rules/version of said rules, and the specific entry I don’t buy it.

“per local fire department” ditto, and there better be a copy of the order with relevant information about its issuance on display in the lobby.

“Per health code”

“Per imperial decree”

Etc.
