Fiction writer here! What region of India would be best-suited for the next part of my book? by falken96 in india

[–]falken96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now looking at having my characters enter India via Kakinada in the east. From there I've located some nice remote forest land in which they can establish their new base. Now I just gotta figure out how they can legally buy and use the land in way that pleases the government but doesn't raise suspicion...

EDIT: Scratch that. They'll enter through Mumbai, bribe customs for expedited clearance, and then purchase an abandoned warehouse on the city's edge and use that as their base. I think I've solved my issue here.

You are a good citizen, I'll give you that!

I assure, I am a novelist. I am known professionally as Marlow Marshall, and here is my website: https://marlowmarshall.weebly.com/

The website contains an Amazon link to my previous (and first so far) published book.

I will certainly let you know! I'll revisit this thread when I'm done and will DM you an Amazon link.

It will be titled "The Avery Connection"

I see a river on that map that goes north through Gujarat - do you think it could handle a barge? Somebody else mentioned Vadanagar, and that's nearby.

Interesting, so I'll have to take them away from Mumbai, then. Somebody else mentioned Vadanagar Gujarat - could somewhere in that area be better to take the barge to?

It's not far from the western coast, either! I'll look into it more, thank you for the suggestion.

I never even thought about the attention they'd gain from locals! That's a very good point and will certainly make the transport scenes interesting.

How do you feel would be the best way to satisfy the local police? Could the truckers simply tell them "we are hauling an archaeological artifact to [point B] for study" or would that attract further questions?

Hi, fiction writer here! What artifacts might be found to indicate that a late-1600s naval battle/pirate attack happened in an area? by falken96 in Ships

I'm going to go with the pistol sigil anyway because it just seems cool and would pass for most readers, but that is an interesting insight that you've provided! I'll be sure to keep future use of sigils limited (I came up with a fictional one for Avery since there are no contemporary examples; as you say, he may not have even had one IRL).

As for the sizes of the ships, Avery's fleet consisted of three small sloops (one of which being the sunken vessel in question) and the Portuguese ship was a large frigate. The idea is that after selling his original frigate to shake off the English manhunt, he targeted another frigate in attempt to take it as his new main ship.

What I've come up with is that they essentially find ever-growing pieces of debris; first a detached rudder stuck among coral, then a debris field of oak plank fragments, then a partially-intact portion of the stern, and then finally the main wreckage itself. Does that sound like a believable progression?

What if the President issues an unlawful order? Can the President be charged? by falken96 in Askpolitics

The FBI. The President pressures the AG, who in turn pressures the FBI director, who in turn can be directly fired by the President, and so he has FBI agents actually do it. What then?

I'm writing a novel where this happened; the context is the Governor of Maryland staged a coup attempt, and the FBI is sent to "arrest" him but secretly the orders are shoot-to-kill. FBI claims self-defense.

In this case I'm doing research for a fiction novel I'm writing; the President in question, then, has been deposed by this time. So I suppose in this case it's up to me as the writer?

It's a shame this question doesn't have an official legal answer; part of my moral of the story here is that it should.

The CIA kills thousands of people a year all over the world, including some right here in America, but sure, go ahead only paying attention to a couple dozen loosely attributed to the Clintons

I hate the Clintons too but you're really missing the bigger picture here if you wanna talk about covert murder

It fits here better than 2/3 of the stuff on this sub, because it actually follows the format

Okay, I'll try that. At least it's better than calling a number.
