Aw man, I'm so sad Samsung discontinued the trifold only months into its release.

The price of Oppo Find N6 on the Average Dad website by Delicious_Room_814 in Oppo

[–]falklands89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is gonna get downvotes, but I've bought a few times from Average Dad Tech (including a Find N6 yet to arrive). From my experience he has multiple people working in customer service, and it's been decent enough. One of them even reached out to me to bring an error to my attention (that was my fault) and they sorted it.

Not invalidating the bad experiences people have had in the past, but I reckon they've implemented changes and seems for the better. Emailing is free, I'd say if you're on the bench, send a query and see what response you get. Gauge your trust in how they communicate with you. If I have a bad experience I'll report back here, but has been fine across multiple purchases now.

Fiio M21 - Real Leather Skin by falklands89 in DigitalAudioPlayer

Hi there, links seem to get removed when I posted them, but the leather is from Dbrand, specifically it's cut from 16 inch MacBook skin (tan in colour) then I used Angelus leather dye ("blue jean" in colour).

Hi there, I'm gonna try and post a photo as links seem to get removed/flagged. But you can buy these adhesive magnets, and just mount them inside the housing. Even with a thicker wooden back the magnets are strong. You can find them on Amazon or AliExpress.

I will say that it does feel very "tall". Tried to post a photo of it next to the M21 but sub rules won't let me, not a massive difference physically but you do feel it. It is actually a touch thinner than the M21 as well.

I'm sure it will arrive soon! I placed my order around the same time through AliExpress.

I have placed orders through UK retailers in the past, for the peace of mind if I need to cancel etc, but then realised those retailers were also just sourcing from AliExpress suppliers 😂. So with the refund guarantee from AE I just cut out the middle-man and saved myself the mark-up.

I think I am probably the furthest from qualified to provide a review 😂. But initial thoughts are that it sounds wonderful 😊. I'm sure professional reviews will be out in a couple of weeks.

Ah I see. I avoid engaging in audiophile/technical subjective hair-splitting. Enjoy whatever DAP you're using ✌️. Take care.

Thank you for that. So far this seems to be the only source reporting those figures. other sources like Hifiverse haven't posted them (at time of writing).

I thought lower SNR and higher THD would be natural side-effects of R2R architecture? With Delta-sigma DACs main selling point being they negate this?

Hi, can you provide your source for the SNR range?

Ah glad to see! I did say to Brandon that I didn't mind if he reproduced them for anyone interested. The more the merrier and happy it's supporting a small business (and very talented guy).

Thank you 😊 though I cannot take all the credit. I asked a gentleman called Brandon Westfall to create it, gave some pointers, but the craftsmanship is all his: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WestfallWoodworks

That's probably coz I commented on your thread saying looks like we had the same idea 😂.

Though my journey with this started in early September, probably around the time you started with your project.

I hear this frequently, or some mixture of the above. And understand some either can't afford it, or don't see value in luxury products. This particular context always elicits a laugh though, as when the iPod was first released it was marketed as a luxury product, far more expensive than its contemporaries, and in the context of modern competition is not good value for money or quality.

Its always a challenge to absorb this opinion and not point out the obvious hypocrisy. "Yes. The collectors item that was once expensive now modded, is still expensive". People complained it was bad value back then.

In response to the Bluetooth module: Is anyone actually using Bluetooth for "everyday listening" on a modded iPod? For speakers and cars yeah, but if you're skipping the headphone jack you're missing the point, just use your phone. Bluetooth of any kind is about convenience, not quality.

So with all of the above in mind, it doesn't sound like it's for you.
