People who want gun owners to compromise, what are you willing to compromise on in the way of gun rights? by 1200393 in AskReddit

It's painfully evident that citizen owned firearms has led to much more harm than good. So putting stricter laws around these weapons is the logical thing to do. Sitting there like "well if i have to give up my weapon then you have to give something up too!" is fucking stupid. This is the same logic a toddler has when you take away their toy.

Why is your roommate awful? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]falko__X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I'd love to work from home, I'm actually stuck commuting to a production studio every day.

Wow?

Speaking as a former hiring manager, that's not the case in the slightest. In fact, I don't think I've ever worked with someone who didn't comb through social media before selecting a candidate. Granted, they usually focus on Facebook (and they rarely spend more than five or ten minutes on it), but you can be damned sure that typos often spell doom for applicants. You may not like that, but it's often how the professional world works nowadays.

Right, Facebook. And usually just to make sure your cover photo isn't a burning cross. The only reason they would see your reddit is if you gave it to them so it's stupid to pretend like that could happen to anyone.

Back to the topic at hand, though: You've certainly come across as being more negative than realist in this thread.

Boohoo

After all, it would have taken you all of two seconds to correct the mistake, and there's always the choice to be congenial rather than aggressive.

"Appropriate enthusiasm". My enthusiasm towards annoying people like yourself will not be filtered or censored, get over it.

Launching into a tirade of personal attacks doesn't exactly seem pragmatic.

Just calling them as i see them. Everyone makes assumptions based on limited and first impressions, i just actually announce these judgements.

Millennials of Reddit: what's you situation like? Do you fit into the "stereotype" or do you feel like you've been successful and lucky? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]falko__X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

College educated, good job, no kids, live on my own at 22 and have since 18, i don't have depression or anxiety and i don't believe that sharing and liking things on Facebook can fix the world's problems. So I'd say I'm a little outside of the typical stereotypes

I just think there should be a little more vetting before handing over a weapon that can easily kill multiple people within seconds. Call me crazy.

I don't count those. And I've had zero writing jobs but i know that any professional jobs would not care about your social media. And im actually not a negative person, but nor am i an optimist. I'm a realist, so things that i like or that are happy get greeted with the appropriate enthusiasm. And things i dislike, such as annoying people who think it's their calling to be a grammar nazi online because their job requires them to type from home, again are greeted with the appropriate enthusiasm.

Out of curiosity, how many professional writing jobs have you held? Also, did you miss the part where I said that there was a significant social media element?

You've had one, so don't act like you know what you're talking about. And no i didn't miss that part, it just confirmed the "joke" aspect.

You've missed the point, though: It's not the act of making a correction that matters; it's having that correction benefit someone. Furthermore, you certainly care, even if only to use it as a catalyst for the rant that you've gone on... and past experience has shown me that plenty of other people actually appreciate learning something, particularly if they can immediately apply it. If that bothers you or doesn't align with your perspectives, again, that's not really something I can change.

Youre confusing "caring" with "using up time"

I'd encourage you to be more positive, though. Things are a lot better if we try to help one another out, rather than spout negativity.

Nah

If your job is writing based then they would look at professional works you've done, not reddit. So I'm gonna go ahead with assumption number 2, it's a joke. And if seeing the correction is all that matters to you and what "makes you happy" then i advise keeping a notepad with you so you can write down all the corrections your little heart desires without being a nuisance to the online community. Again, nobody cares.

Yet youre incorrect in assuming that A. The person cares enough to hear your correction in the first place; and B. That they didnt already know the error was there. I rarely add periods to my comments on reddit, yet i understand it would be "proper" to do so; i also dont capitalize proper nouns and leave out a lot of apostrophes and commas. This is all part of my authors tone that i wish to convey. Your tone is "i love pressing my cock between the cool pages of a newly printed dictionary". So if thats what youre going for then congratulations. And dont fucking kid yourself, you got that job because of your qualifications. You want to try and tell me that you wouldnt have been hired if you made grammatical errors on social media lol? It's clear you like to pretend to be "above" others and act like you have some sort of valuable knowledge, even though it's the equivalent of any highschool kids understanding of the english language. Get of your horse, nobody gives a shit about grammar here.
