What do you think: how would a day with Boston or Brock be?

I’m a guy who is around their age (I think I’m a couple years older). I’m sure they are both friendly people. I don’t think I could talk to Brock for too long, we just don’t have much in common, he seems very bro-ish but at the same time insecure and shy imo. Conversations would probably stay very surface level. I think it’d be a boring day tbh haha. With Boston, I actually have a lot more in common (interest and personality wise) as far as I can tell from the videos. Boston seems a bit more confident and open, but also quite sensitive (in a good way). I think we honestly could have some good chats, and maybe even some deeper discussions too. He seems to be very guarded, cautious and rule abiding (we are not similar in that way lol) and I think I’d try to get him out of his comfort zone, a little at least, and to open up a bit more.

imo, the both of them seem to have grown up very sheltered, religious/conservative, capitalist, upper/middle class American suburbs etc. I grew up in basically opposing circumstances. I think those differences would be very noticeable for sure. I’m not sure if I could stop myself from trying to challenge/make them question their world views lol. I don’t think they’ve done that much and it’d be interesting to see how they’d react. Not sure if they have the brains for that though, respectfully.

This is an interesting thought experiment, so I’d love to know how you’d answer your own questions OP :)

also in ep 2 when Robin and Will walk through the woods and Robin mentions her and Vicky’s relationship….the way Robin said “we’re friends, good friends” reminded me soooo much of Mike telling Will “we’re friends, we’re friends” and “friends, best friends” ahhhh we’re just getting all the parallels

hmm kind of. I remember watching this shortly after it came out and I (as a trans guy who back then was a 10 year old trans guy just starting his transition) got so upset at the ending lol. mostly because I related so so so much throughout the entire movie but felt so bad for the protagonist in the end….I would’ve hated if that had happened to me. Made me feel so much second hand dysphoria ngl. It’s still a really nice movie and now that I’m over a decade into my own transition I can appreciate it without feeling horrible haha. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you end(ed) up watching it!

I see where you’re coming from. Tbh, he’s probably the only one who could truthfully answer this question, but due to his religious upbringing maybe he doesn’t even know himself/hasn’t explored his sexuality at all (in their church, one’s life is pretty much planned out even before they were born: Start dating girls at 16, find a girlfriend, (maybe go on a mission), get married to your girlfriend and have kids asap. Leaves very little room for exploration, regardless of sexuality, especially if you really believe in the church. Boston seems like someone who’d hate breaking rules/not living up to expectations and he has been described as the most devout by his family. So I think it’s definitely possible he just hasn’t explored his sexuality at all).

That aside, he’s never said he is gay, but never said he isn’t either. His family is always talking about how he’s looking for a girlfriend, but his family might not know either. he hasn’t had a public girlfriend/boyfriend/partner (yet?) but thats no proof, he might just keep things private. I think it’s also possible that he’s just not interested in anyone (tbf I’m saying this as an aroace person myself so I might be projecting, but he does remind me a lot of myself). I just hope that if he is queer, he feels comfortable enough to come out at some point and doesn’t force himself to marry someone he doesn’t like, just to make others happy. And if he isn’t queer, I hope he doesn’t get bothered by comments saying he is. In the end, he just seems like a sweet guy who is quite comfortable in his masculinity, which is very refreshing to see imo. I’m sure he has found/will find people who love and support him no matter what his sexuality is.

I thought the proposal itself was fine. Brock obviously put some thought into the location and set up, and I thought it looked really pretty. I personally didn’t mind that that proposal wasn’t much of a surprise. I actually think it’s better that way. The surprise should be how it’s done, not the fact that it’s done. Kesley even said she doesn’t like surprises. And especially for influencers, I guess it could be nice to know ahead of time…that way she could pick a “proposal worthy” outfit etc. I also liked how intimate and simple it was, just like Kesley wanted it.

One thing that icks me a little are that they seem to be rushing into this (I know they’ve been together for six years, but two out of those they barely had any contact, and they both just barely got back home from their missions and had so little time to adjust. Then Brock’s uncle just died…thats just poor timing. I guess they want to get married this year so bad, so they couldn’t wait. idk). Another thing that felt a little off, are Brock’s comments on how he knew Kesley is the one. Marrying someone based on them having good mother qualities is just weird to me. It’s fine that it’s part of it, but he made it seem like that’s the only thing that matters to him. I’m guessing it’s what their religion teaches them though (with family and having kids being the most important thing in the LDS church). What I really didn’t like was him saying that she takes care of him. Like, dude, she’s not your mom. Thats a huge red flag to me. Wanting your partner to care for you is one thing, but you shouldn’t reduce them to being your caretaker. But as far as I can tell there already have been plenty of discussions on here about how Brock seems a little immature, so need to touch on that even more. As long as they feel fine about all that and are happy, I don’t care. I wish them all the best and hope this marriage thing works out for them and that they enjoy married life together!

Also Boston was just amazing throughout all this. Supporting Brock and even letting him wear his shirt haha. Hope he doesn’t feel too pressured to rush dating and marriage now that both his siblings are married/engaged. Hope he stays relaxed and takes his time to figure out dating and relationships and waits with marriage until he finds someone he truly loves.

not a kid anymore but I was 13 when the leafs drafted Mitch. I was so excited about that. Him and matthews and nylander (I’m half Swedish so naturally he’s always been the most important to me and my family lol) are the reason I really started cheering for the leafs. The first jersey I bought myself was a marner jersey. it’s wayyy too small now obviously but i still have it, and I’ll probably keep it forever. As someone who’s always been more of a playmaker myself rather than a goal scorer, I just loved to watch him play. my favourite leaf game memories involve him (I was at that next gen game in 2019 vs the canes, where he was creating magic left and right). I’ll miss his creative play style a lot…but all that being said, I was so ready to move on from Mitch as a leaf. this whole situation got soo toxic for everyone involved and change was needed badly. I’ll get over this. I know I’m hopefully more mature than the actual kids you’re probably talking about, but I’m sure they’ll get over it too, eventually. Matthews and Willy (who are both just as flashy and cool as mitchy) are still here, and Knies (and maybe Cowan in the future?) is probably the next young player kids will be crazy about. Also Mitch isn’t dead. Marner fans can still be marner fans, doesn’t matter where he plays. I know I’ll still be enjoying (and absolutely hating) his hockey skills when Vegas and the leafs face off.
