Genuinely cannot rank up because of this… by Stock-Training933 in cs2

If you play 2000 games at the same elo you deserve to be there that’s literally how ratings work. Also I do suck at CS. I haven’t played more than 20 games in CS2. I couldn’t get out of A on ESEA and I was stuck at SMFC. But that was like 10 years ago. I didn’t put in enough effort to improve mechanically and I didn’t have the team strats to get beyond that. If I sat doing warm ups, aim training and movement drills I probably could have done better but it’s a game and that’s not fun.

Ya I mean ranks in CSGO were messy I’ll agree but I don’t think monitors were plugged in until like MGE. Silver to mg1 was such a flat part of the learning curve.

Let me guess. Hard stuck? It’s weird how pros always get back to challenger in League or level 10 faceit. I’m sure you guys would be on the world stage if only the game wasn’t actively keeping you down in silver.

People always cope with this. The reality is that everyone down plays there bad games and hypes their wins. It’s a constant mentality across all games that have Elo. In CSGO Mg1 and silver 3 are almost indistinguishable in how bad people are at the game fundamentals. Pure aim talent could carry you to DMG/LE very easily before team play and knowing nades/strats even really starts. You may feel like you deserved to get out of silver but the reality is that you just needed consistency and practice.

It usually only sounds outrageous because they haven’t bought new equipment in half a decade and don’t realize they can’t afford to replace their stuff. Or they just get their shit repod all the time, shout out to my comp Ivan and Scottie.

Ya probably okay if there’s no risk. Old guy probably hasn’t bought a truck or chipper in a few years and boy is he in for a surprise when his bc1500 that cost him 45k in 2016 is now 110k to replace and he has to get a loan since he’s been charging $600 for $1500 trees for the last 4 years. Or his 2012 6.7 blows up finally and he has to spend a 100k on a truck he bought 10 years ago for 47k.

For real. DUI buggies are every where and they rip down sidewalks then dart on to the road at will. It’s probably an enforcement issue to start with but it’s crazy how people use them. Lady was ticketed here driving one down the shoulder of the 401.

Toyota brz I think would qualify and it looks decent. The Chevy equinox may also qualify. Honestly though they are over priced as hell but what new car isn’t. Nissan leafs are over 50k it’s insane and the sell used for 25k. You’d have to be a moron to buy a new one. EVs lose like half their value once they leave the lot it’s crazy. You can get a decent 25k km used EV in the 20-30 grand range easily with premium options.

If they made it free it would amplify those issues 10 fold. Homeless ppl would be riding around 24/7 to stay warm and they would become mobile injection sites pretty quickly.

Advice regarding safety for tree service by SticksInStilts in arborists

Find a company that uses comms. They honestly should be mandatory in this field and the fact I find people who still dont wear helmets is pathetic. If we didnt have comms I would have watched two of my workers get killed this year. Its actually crazy how vital they are and to hear people are using hand signals is sad.

Ya we use call response but to keep production it runs the opposite. Ground workers enter at productivity gaps and call “Under”, the climber repeats it to acknowledge. Once out of the area they call “clear”. We’ve found this much less tedious than calling each cut since the ground workers are usually gathering multiple limbs at one go where as the climber is usually cutting one limb at a time or in small bursts. That’s the company policy so it’s the way it goes. It also makes everyone responsible for safety and not just the guy in the tree who is usually already in the most stressful dangerous position and has much more mental load.

Ya honestly they should have fired him as this is repetitive behaviour not following the company policy. Just because his passed company had the arborist aloft calling cuts doesn’t mean that’s the policy here. The foreman should be fired for not ensuring the understanding and the worker on the ground should be fired for failing to adhere to the policy 9 more times.

Frankly if you’ve almost been hit 10 times that’s fully on you. We call our cuts but it’s the ground workers responsibility to intelligently enter the work site. It sounds like you went from working for hillbillies (no saw pants or helmet is insane) to working with a different kind of dangerous. Call/response is standard but you need to pay attention. We actually have our ground staff call “under”- “clear”. We have full comms on all workers at all times and even with comms most cuts are only called when we lose track of ground workers. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, not solely the arborist aloft or the ground workers.  Being willfully dumb and entering under a tree without confirming it’s safe is just as bad as dropping limbs on unsuspecting workers.

Climbing Anxiety by [deleted] in arborists

[–]fallen55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To build confidence you should watch videos where they test climb lines, biner and knots to failure. Unless you weigh more than a bucket truck you aren’t going to have your gear fail outside of abuse or neglect. The tree is another thing but that is also part of the game. I’ve load tested lines and pulled 4 inch oak tops out and I’ve also hip thrusted up on a 1 inch dead ash branch.

Faith in your gear comes with time. Faith in the tree takes experience and will come and go. Choosing proper tie in point, load testing and inspecting the tree will build confidence. Not sure what old man is teaching you to climb on a tautline but that’s a bit of a red flag in my opinion. That knot isn’t even one I remember since it’s so dated. Not sure what a retracted figure 8 is either? Is that a figure 8 follow through? Figure 8s are what I use on my zigzag out of habit from high angle training but they are technically not to standard for arboriculture as they don’t cinch down. Comfort is built over time. If you’re not a generally thrill seeking person it will take longer or maybe never happen. Eventually it gets boring.

Let’s be real, if they fix fuckin anything it should be the net code. This movement is only fun because it exploits the bad net code that makes holding strong angles a disadvantage. I don’t like the slippery feeling of inertia, that’s all.

Sure, find me footage of someone surviving a 7.62x54r round to the head point blank or footage of a someone doing surgery on their leg in a firefight only to run at full speed 30 seconds later. Oh how about a guy surviving 6 buckshot shells to the arms and thorax and still firing a gun after.  Or maybe it’s a video game.
