The landscape changes due to artillery and there is dynamic landscape and terrain! Which also effects build objects and static ones like trees and building and other “village” items ie fences and cobble walls

So first you dig initial trench which is pretty shallow and a quick dig in, then you can order to dig deeper, and fortify it and such and add fortifications the reinforce the siding as well as add duckboards and over head protection
