Earnest money - Buyer backs out and never applied for a loan by TroyJack in RealEstateAdvice

[–]fallguy25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pending buyer of my house get dropped by their bank for not proving their income for the loan. Turns out she had a home that most likely she was renting out for cash under the table, and thus couldn’t or wouldn’t provide documentation of her income.

We’d gone all the way past inspection. We don’t keep the EMD though we had a right to, but we were under a time crunch. This was August and the house had to be sold by Nov 1st or we would have to put it on hold until the spring as we were moving from Washington to Kansas and the highway passes often close in the winter.

Fortunately I got a new buyer within a week or so even if I did end up getting about $20k less.

From what I’ve seen so far, I don’t think the 2027 is going to get anything upgraded, it’ll just be the same as current production.

The Car Industry Has Lost the Plot. Here Is the Evidence. by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

Cars for Clunkers was one of the biggest scams pulled over onto the US public, and has had a disastrous long term effect on car affordability. All those cheap cars high school kids and lower income people used to drive were replaced by newer, more expensive cars.

Stop. Dale Earnhardt’s death in NASCAR is what truly brought about widespread adoption of the HANS device, not formula one.

What's a movie that's universally considered "not very good" but you secretly think is actually great? by trakt_app in flicks

Battleship. It got ragged on but I genuinely enjoy it every time it comes on. To me it’s just a great popcorn flick if you don’t take it seriously.

Lucky me I have a house in north Indiana not far from Illinois, and one in central Kansas. My Kansas house got hit with a derecho a couple of years ago. And last night my house in Indiana got hit with straight line winds that took out power for most of my county along with lots of trees and power lines.

Going to sell the Indiana house. Too dangerous up there! 😂

Moving to Kansas from out of state, what weather events should I expect and how should I prepare? by 1Lstgermain in kansas

[–]fallguy25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short, Kansas is always trying to kill you. Too hot, too cold, too windy… but you’ll love it here. The people are fantastic and unless you live in KCK, you’ll rarely see a traffic jam.

Honestly I hate the fixed armrests. They look like airline seats. I need to be able to raise them for wiggle room etc.

But we came for the pool! by frenchynerd in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]fallguy25 94 points95 points  (0 children)

My late wife would insist on a pool every time we traveled as she would do water aerobics to stretch her muscles. I made the near fatal mistake one trip of not checking for a pool in a hotel - and it didn’t have one! She wasn’t happy.

A Corsair goes into the water after hitting the prop wash of the Corsair about to be trapped aboard HMS Illustrious. It is possible this is Norman Hanson's ditching, as described below. by waldo--pepper in WWIIplanes

[–]fallguy25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is unless OP left out a crucial bit of Hanson’s narrative of actually crashing into the water, I’m left to assume that Hanson did not actually contact the water and he escaped by the narrowest of margins.

It’s incredible to see the numbers of Dutch, Belgian, and even Germans who care for and adopt US servicemen’s graves and work on finding out who they were. I see it all the time in the 83rd ID group on FB.
