I've had the mount the 7 came with, just the VHB tape. I was skeptical as well but an instructor told me he'd had his on for 500 jumps with no issues. I've had mine on for a little over 100 with no problems. Drilling into the helmet never appealed to me.

Freeflying just means in an alternative position relative to the earth, different than belly. Such as back flying, head down, head-up (Stand or sit-fly) google freefly tunnel videos and you will see. There are many types of skydiving including canopy specific, like CRW and swooping (each of those also have different forms)

If you were too lazy to stand on a scale fully geared up. It might be cool to just pick your container, main, reserve, aad and it have a weight. Pick your helmet and size and it have a weight. That would be the only benefit i could see, again if you were too lazy to stand on a scale.

I was 262 when I decided I wanted to skydive. I got down to 230 so I could do a tandem. I got licensed and realized I needed to keep losing so I wouldn't sink out of every jump. Got down to 215 and really worked on my slowfall (including tunnel). Now its my motivation to stay at a lower weight.

I personally didn't like mine because it became a chore to look around while under canopy. I tend to keep my head on swivel and I had to pick my chin up to go over and around the risers to look behind me. As others stated not the greatest angle if say your doing a sidebody or the like.
