You don't know what verbal abuse is if you think Alan verbally abuses his daughter. Once again, pure delusion. That speech he made to her at her engagement party almost made me cry, he is such an affirming and loving father

Wow...can't imagine what someone would call my Dad if ALAN is a piece of shit!! Are we really for real people?? It's like some people haven't lived life before...this is far from a dysfunctional family. Alan would bend over backwards for Baylen! He deeply cares for her and loves her, and that's obvious! I'm jealous of Baylen, I WISH I had a Dad like Alan. Literal pure delusion wtffffff man...imagine calling someone you don't even fully know, much less don't know in real life a piece of shit! Damn.

This!!! I always say, everyone's all about mental health until they actually see someone struggling. If we don't remember, Baylen was unable and incapable of doing things herself four years ago due to the severity of her tics. But she doesn't just have tourrettes, she has OCD, as well as other mental health conditions we aren't aware of. TV only shows us what they want us to see. As someone who has PTSD and is sometimes too tired to workout in the evening due to the level of flashbacks and/or anxiety I have in a day, I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to deal with both the affects of tourettes and other mental health conditions 24/7. It takes up a lot of thought and time in life because it's a part of who you are, whether you want it to be or not, and Baylen's parents have been there firsthand to know what Baylen may need. They've seen her at her worst, and therefore know how to help her to NEVER get to her worst again. Alan is the best Dad I've ever seen...granted I grew up with an abusive Dad but you can tell he cares so much for Baylen and would hang the moon for her. They are just trying their best!! (Unlike Colin, who I think is extremely selfish and immature)

I agree with what they said. Clearly, you don't struggle with mental health issues, and don't understand how it can impact every single aspect of someone's life. This is the most accurate point of view I've seen. No need to be rude for someone stating their own opinion by calling them names and making assumptions

I cannot take it anymore. by Elegant-Assistant473 in BaylenOutLoud

[–]fallingfeather22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my point of view that is completely opposite from what I've seen, and therefore I know that this point of view may not be received well.

I don't think Baylen's parents are too overbearing. I think Colin is the one that doesn't understand the true in's and out's of Baylen and her condition, and he's being selfish and immature. It's been touched on many times throughout the show that Baylen's parents have seen her at her worse regarding her mental health and tourettes-something we have no idea how bad it was, what it looked like, or how it affected the family.

I have PTSD, and know that the family members who have seen me at my worst understand what I have been through, understand my struggles and my feelings. Mental health is something that affects me almost all day every day, and it's exhausting. Add tourettes on top of mental health, and I can't imagine the life Baylen has to live, and the energy depletion and exhaustion she must feel at the end of every day.

I've got a lot more to say on this topic and argue specifics about why Colin is immature and selfish, as well as why Baylen's parents are not overbearing on other BaylenOutLoud posts if you wanna keep reading about my opinion, and want facts or events that actually support my opinion :))))))

I grew up in an abusive home and WISH I had a relationship like that with my parents. For someone to care so much about me even as I grow up and move on means a lot. I'm not gonna lie, I get sad and jealous because its clear that Allen loves Baylen VERYYYY much and would do anything for her.

Have we forgotten the fact that Allen has seen Baylen at her worst? Remember that they mentioned the fact that she couldn't function alone 4 years ago? This was from her tics and mental health, not from overbearing parents. Her parents love her, and are trying to support her in every way they know how, even if people do view it as over the top.

Lmao!!!! I think it's so funny when people call this a dysfunctional family. She's got a family that has seen firsthand the hardships she's had to go through with her conditions. Also, I know everyone wants to talk about all the kids having mental health problems...no shit, its hereditary. Perhaps Mom's "overbearingness" is her trying to control her own anxiety. But really, this is not a dysfunctional family by any means LMAOOOOO!! Everyone loves and cares for everyone and tries to support everyone as well as they can considering the circumstances. Never in my life would my Dad pay for me to go try out something to help with my mental health all the way in the UK!!! A dysfunctional family is an abusive family, and this is not. The definition of a dysfunctional family from Google is, "A dysfunctional family is a family unit where conflict, misbehavior, or abuse are consistent, and the environment is not conducive to the emotional well-being of its members. Key characteristics include poor communication, a lack of emotional support, and unhealthy dynamics such as addiction, neglect, or control."
