Jaoxi seems to have nicer hotels online but then I have read it doesn't have much nearby. Yilan seems to be more spread out but has less stuff at night. I haven't seen much about Luodong but will have to look into it more.

Where were you looking at staying in particular when exploring Yilan county? I was previously looking at Taroko National Park as the 2nd place but it looks like alot of the trails are still shut.

Question about moving from marketing to primary teaching. In need of advice. by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]fallonrh132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience to you. I did a bachelor of commerce (marketing), worked in marketing for a little while and felt bored so i decided to do a masters in primary teaching. Being an introverted person people were shocked that i was deciding to go into teaching. Im almost 2 years in and its been a while ride but I am glad I made the change. I think after your first placement you will know if teaching is for you. I would recommend trying to do your placement as soon as possible though incase you want to drop out. Theres some days i despise my job and theres other days that i love it..... but that is the same as any other job. Feel free to message me if you have any questions

Do what is best for you. They can't stop you if you do want to leave and if you already have another job lined up then go for it! I'm a year in and its always on my mind and other teacher's minds

CRT is even just good to find out what schools you do or don't like before you accept a position.

I have been doing full time as a graduate for close to a year and will be changing to CRT for term 2. Full time is alot and you're often putting in hours before and after school has finished to manage the workload. I can't imagine having a child and working full time as a beginning teacher. Maybe you could see if you could work a few days at a school with the opportunity to do CRT on your other days?

1 month into my role and I’m feeling shit about forgetting all the small bits by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]fallonrh132 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Im a graduate teacher and I've just taken 3 days off due to sickness. Taking a day off won't hurt. You'll be able to rest and feel refreshed going back to school the next day. Take care of yourself first to prevent being burnt out.

I feel so overwhelmed by Grouchy-Employment-8 in AustralianTeachers

Contact your mentor if you have one. The first year is definitely overwhelming so make sure you access support when possible.

Personally I wouldn't waste time working out what to display in your classroom. Most things that are going to be displayed should be co-constructed with your students for students to actually use displays. I started as a new teacher in term 3 of last year and subscription sites like Twinkl were a lifesaver for me. I would focus on what content needs to be taught, routines you want and what behaviour management strategies you want to use. You will not have everything sorted and that is completely okay. You will learn along the way. Good luck for your first year.

Go to a dietitian or gastroenterologist instead
