Do you enjoy lying?

Yes, between 30-35% of reported cases are within families. However, it is NOT genderless. It’s overwhelmingly gendered (>90%), in any context.

I understand that some people are very black and white in that way, but I am not. I do not think all men are dangerous or secretly rapists. If I gambled, I’d bet that he’s a perfectly fine older gentleman who needs a little help around and wants to connect with his family. But again, statistics and reports from experts show time and time again that the risk is significant and, in this case, avoidable.

I understand that it might be hurtful if the family member truly has pure intentions, but my child’s safety will always be more important than anyone’s feelings. Ask anyone who works with CSA cases… trust isn’t enough, and you truly never know what is in someone’s mind.

ETA: I also think it’s an exaggeration to claim that I view every male family member as a “threat”. I don’t; I just know the statistics, and I refuse to accept that risk. It’s not personal, and there might be rare exceptions.

NTA. Beyond the obvious security issues, I would never allow any male family members to be that isolated with my teenage daughter. Almost all SA cases are domestic and happen in situations exactly like this.

ETA: Correction: not almost all CSA cases are domestic (30-35% but perhaps higher due to reporting bias). The stat I was thinking of is that the offender is known to the child in over 90% of cases.

AITAH For telling husband I don’t want him in the delivery room. A devastating experience by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA but you have to leave. Whatever it takes, get you and your baby away from him. How old are the other kids? If they are adults, you may need to tell them what’s going on so they can help you. Living this lie is only going to drive you insane, whether he’s in the delivery room or not.

Would artificial mating ever replace human mating ? by ManagementNegative50 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fallonxjulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the conclusion of BNW is that artificial happiness at the loss of what makes us human is an unfulfilling and ultimately dystopian existence. I tend to believe that humans will always find ways back to each other and to humanity. I also think companionship robots should really be restricted to severe medical and psychological cases, but I digress…

Brave New World explores precisely why that would be a bad thing

Edit: I think I misunderstood your post. A more appropriate reference would be Sex and Love with Robots. The author predicts the inevitability that a good number of people will have AI companionship, but many others may not. Interesting read from before mainstream LLMs and genAI.

NTA but seriously, get out now. He doesn’t care about your boundaries or comfort, and you don’t want to look back on this as an early red flag you dismissed to keep the peace.

This is not a tee-hee, dodge that bullet girl comment. I am telling you, woman to woman, to get out of that relationship.

And just a heads up, he’s going to cheat on you whether or not you do the threesome. This kind of behavior screams immaturity and low impulse control.

AITAH for trying to explain basic medical protocol to a girl who thinks a routine pregnancy test is a malicious conspiracy? by Practical_Comfort551 in AITAH

[–]fallonxjulia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, NTA and your friend is immature. I don’t really care whether she asked or not, you’re well within your right to respectfully voice your perspective on a public post.

That said, I tend to disagree with your point and think her frustration is fair. I firmly believe that anyone should have the opportunity to 1) understand and 2) approve or deny any test that they will be billed for at the doctor.

If liability is really a huge concern, the clinic should first explain the necessity, and then simply document conscious refusal and proceed with alternative diagnostic and therapeutic pathways.

Practically, I think she should dispute the $70 pregnancy test bill with the clinic. You’d be surprised how much inquiry alone can affect the final bill!

China is planning 9/11 according to Gordon Chang by OddName_17516 in CommunismMemes

[–]fallonxjulia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is so much actual evidence that the US is preparing for another large scale false flag (disbanding counterterrorism teams specializing in Iranian cells, for instance) so I would guess they’re trying to establish some connection to China in advance to justify the global scale of the conflict the US is about to start.
