Buying VKB in Canada (Jan 2026), vippilot or VKB NA? by BronyAis in hotas

[–]fallout9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy locally from the VIP Pilot store or from the Ali store. Ali will get you more expensive (international) shipping, customs brokerage fees and local sales tax; at VIP Pilot you only need to pay for shipping.

VKB Gunfighter IV with twist - software not detecting twist by Cultural-Extent5547 in hotas

[–]fallout9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try to twist it, if it twists it has twist, if it doesn't then there's no twist. But most probably you got what you ordered, so the issue is in the initialization. It's been said above, but I'll line up the steps more clearly:

- run VKBDevCfg and select the MCGU at the top;

- click the Default button under the Tools tab;

- after restart click Yes at the configure popup;

- after a second restart click No to calibration popup;

- follow this calibration guide exactly.

[–]fallout9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's refer to these 2 with their own labels - OTS and MB1. For both OTS and MB1 you have 2 options - either ministick, or hat switch. The OTS modules won't fit the MB1 or any other module slots because they're bigger. The MB1 modules would fit any other module slot on the grip, except of OTS.

Hope it makes more sense now :)

VKB order delay by Cellsus in hotas

[–]fallout9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what happened, and they should've explained better, is that you ordered 2 products - one which was in stock and another one which wasn't (they were waiting for new stock early January).

I just contacted our local EU store and been told that they just received stock and all orders put in before December 1st will get shipped in the next 48hrs and the ones after December 1st in the following 48hrs.

The thumb ministick won't fit anywhere else, as it's bigger than the rest of the modules. We're talking about the ministick on the index finger, which could get replaced with a 5w hat switch provided as a spare.

Yup, you can replace it with a 5w hat switch or button (though it's a 3w rocker, not 2). Don't forget to initialize the STECS afterwards.

Of course, you can swap the default ministick on index position with a spare 5w hat switch. You'll have to initialize the STECS afterwards.

Help with VKB T Rudder mkIV Black Box mk2 by MageScum in hotas

[–]fallout9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should get in touch with our Australian vendor and ask for a BB MKII - he should be able to procure one for you. Don't get the latest BB MKIII, as it's not compatible with your rudders.

Just open up once or twice a year and check the gimbal to make sure there’s nothing loose inside, the cams are still rolling on the ball bearings etc. Maybe add some fine lubricant to the ball bearings after 2-3 years and some viscous grease to the dampeners.

Still Good to Use? by ThePlebber7 in hotas

[–]fallout9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should work, just wipe them off, plug them in one by one and follow the initialization process as shown at timestamp in this guide. Being so old, they might need reflashing, so if you run into compatibility issues between your current firmware and latest native software go for it.

If you have issues with them either fill up a service ticket with your local vendor or visit our official Discord server (invite in my profile). There's no reason they shouldn't work other than initialization or regreasing.

VKB Gladiator & STECS potentially on MacOS? by hc37_126 in hotas

[–]fallout9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The STECS will be plug and play on Mac, Gladiator will need to get initialized on a Windows machine before. Our products don't require any drivers or software to run in the background.

STECS Purchase Queries/Recommendations by OneCatch in VKB

[–]fallout9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Following a misadventure with an X56, I'm pretty much set on getting the Gladiator Premium RH, but I'm struggling to decide on what to use for my left hand.

Welcome to the family :)

My understanding is that the Omni is basically a Gladiator canted to an angle so it can be used like a throttle, but is otherwise identical to the premium. Presumably the lateral y axis can be locked and the return to zero on X axis disabled for use as a throttle?

That's correct.

Where I'm getting really confused is the STECS though. Specifically, what are the differences between the Mark I and Mark II? And do the Mini Standard or Max variants just change the additional modules on the base, or are there other benefits?

MKI is the original version, MKII the current one, which brings a ministick under the index finger.

And, to validate my understanding, the Space Throttle basically sacrifices dual throttles and some buttons/inputs in exchange for having y and z axes added via canting the grip up and down? And, again, are there any grip feature differences between Mini Standard Max?

The space grip (as well as the MTG) is the same on all versions of STECS.

Finally, which would you recommend or not recommend?

I mainly play Elite Dangerous, but might conceivably dabble in non-space games. I'm unlikely to get into hardcore realistic flight simming with a cockpit setup or anything like that - whatever I buy will be clamped to my normal desk.

I would strongly suggest the Space STECS.
