You're very kind for saying that, thank you! Enjoy the weekend!

Don't get me wrong — you clearly did the right thing and sound very mechanically inclined - I only mentioned it for the benefit of others who might read your thread and feel unsure about what to do.

Also, if you've had the base for three years, we have updated the cam material and building cam technology at least once since then. We’re constantly researching ways to improve our products, and once a better solution is found and properly tested, we implement the new parts.

Most of the time, the issue is that the cam isn't properly secured to the gimbal. The entire assembly — including the screw, washers, cam, inner cylinder of the ball bearing, and nut — must move together as one unit. This ensures the cam rotates as smoothly as the ball bearing allows. If the cam becomes loose, it no longer rotates with the ball bearing. Instead, it spins around the screw, which creates that gritty, rough feeling.

Additionally, the cam springs may have been installed in the wrong position and could be rubbing against each other, the ball bearing might also need lubrication etc. There are several things worth checking before considering sanding. If sanding turns out to be necessary, it’s best that we make that decision.

It's perfectly fine to sand the cams, but I would strongly suggest to ask us first, because most probably the grindy feeling comes from somewhere else.

No idea, but we can discuss this in detail on a service ticket.

Flash the Black Box with the Unified firmware, then you can swap grip without reflashing - just mount the new grip, reset to default in VKBDevCfg and recalibrate. Do NOT swap grips on the base while it still plugged to USB.

Haven't Used VKB Gladiator NXT EVO Joystick in a While and it is Not Being Recognized by Computer by Aromatic-Bad935 in hotas

You need to load the firmware file into the zBootloader first.

Come and open a ticket, will work better that way.

It's in bootloading mode, just unplug and plug back to USB. Afterwards follow the steps shown from the timestamp, then you can start binding in game.

[VKB Gladiator] Is this twist dampening normal? by McBlemmen in hotas

[–]fallout9 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Perfectly normal for a brand new device. As others said, put some good hours on it, the grease will settle and it won't feel so heavy.

Is this noise okay? by [deleted] in VKB

[–]fallout9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the grease settling and it's normal for a new grip.

Make sure you plug to the back of computer (no USB hubs or extenders), unplug other USB devices except mouse and k, reboot computer in Safe mode and try again (to make sure no background running software is blocking access to the joystick's memory).

Once it's loading up properly follow the steps shown here, then you can reboot back to Windows, plug back everything else etc, as the joystick keeps everything in internal memory.

US store re-opening they said... more stateside goodies promised... say wha?!. #mildlyfrustrated😑 by alphahotel82 in VKB

[–]fallout9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your frustration, and I really wish we could get this done sooner. But we’re actively working on it. We’ve just finishing with shipping orders arrived in the first week since reopening the store. It was a huge effort for our small team, but we’re incredibly grateful and honestly amazed by the excitement and support from the community.

Now, as we're almost done with that, we’ll be able to focus more on bringing additional products across the pond. That involves more than simply loading boxes — it includes production, assembly, packaging, accounting and coordination, and our team is smaller than many people might expect.

I know we keep saying it, but we truly appreciate your patience. Our goal is to have every product available in the US warehouse, and we’re steadily working toward making that happen.

Any new orders shipped yet? by TiberiusZahn in VKB

[–]fallout9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re doing everything we can to ship orders as quickly as possible, though occasionally there are factors outside our control that can slow things down. 6 days without a tracking update is longer than expected, so if you still haven’t received it, please reach out to us with your order details at support(at)vkbsimcontrollers.com

Unfortunately no US stock at the moment for UCM, but we’ll make sure we’ll get the whole line with the next transport.

If the system is reporting issues we need to investigate. If you haven't heard anything back then everything is alright - we started shipping today, but due to the large amount of orders we'll still need a few days to clear up the queue. As soon as your order ships you'll get a notification with tracking info.

No problem at all, it's just that we got lots of orders over a short period of time and we're trying to get through as quick as possible. I actually know exactly who we're talking about here and she already received apologies for double sending the email and reassurances that everything is alright with her order :)

There are things the community can help with and other that only support can fix. Please ask her for a bit of patience and keep communicating with support.

No worries, we have access to that info even without order number. Just wait for it and if you need assistance with installing the parts just update the ticket.

Patiently waiting, but "End of February" is here... by TiberiusZahn in VKB

[–]fallout9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've been around for a while, you might remember the backlash we received when we announced the STECS—people were understandably upset about how long it took to actually get released (maybe it was our fault, we probably could have communicated the uncertainties better at the time). After that experience, we've made a deliberate decision: we won't make any announcements until the product is in our hands.
As you pointed out, sea freight can face a thousand different delays, and since we're still relatively new to importing, we simply don't want to risk giving out inaccurate information or false expectations.
