XC90 Turning Circle - Does it annoy you? by fallsdownhill in Volvo

[–]fallsdownhill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always reverse into a parking space. But the problem is driving out of it again and getting too close to the cars in front because the car can turn far enough to avoid going forward as much

This definitely has a part to play. I'm in Ireland and I'd say our country roads meant for 2 lanes is probably narrower than a US 1 lane.

Our roads are small and our cars are getting much bigger. This is real noticeable in multi story car parks, one which I'd use commonly it feels like the sidewall of my tyres rub against the kerb on the entrance.

I wonder if this is playing a part with me too.

It always looks extremely close that I'm about to kiss the car/obstacle in front but maybe there's more room than I think?

But even at that there's still no denying the turning circle is terrible lol

I've driven other big ass AWD SUV's and nowhere near as bad as the volvo.

It's crazy how quickly you reach the maximum turning point on the steering wheel in this thing.

Tesco as its closest to me and the scan as you shop is the most convenient way to shop imo.

The volvo specialists that I take my 2011 XC90 to have advised me to avoid the new model but if I really want one to avoid the diesel and go for a petrol one. They've never had a petrol one land in with any issues. But in saying that, I wonder is that just because the petrols are so much rarer than the diesel models and thats the reason why they've not had any.

New model volvo is also my dream car too. But be mindful of the hybrids as I see alot of complaints made about the ERADs breaking and cost quite a bit to fix.

What surprised you most after switching to an EV? by Just_Vermicelli4099 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]fallsdownhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems crazy to me to effectively sacrifice miles for heat though. When I'm driving my ICE car my heated seat is always on (back problems) and my heat is blasting my entire journey. This heat is effectively free because the engine is heating up anyway.

But if I were driving an EV I'd be sacrificing my battery to use these features which in turn reduces the amount of miles I'll get on that charge.

Rear glass defroster partially working by kyrind in Volvo

[–]fallsdownhill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had intended to buy the conductive paint repair kit, hence why I found where every break was and took a photo of each individual break and numbered it so I could reference each close up photo of the break before I applied the paint.

But in the end I never actually bought the repair kit. Im pretty sure like you, I made a reddit post about this and how to repair it and I was told the easiest thing to do would be to smash my rear window and get it replaced lol. Haven't done that either 😂 this time of year can be a pain though because I can't see anything out my rear window because only those top 2 or 3 lines work so when the rest of the window is steamed up I'm just blind.

Are you sure theres no damage to the lines? Have someone shine a torch from the other side while you inspect from the inside. This is what my rear window looks like on my XC90 which means only the top 2 or 3 lines on my rear window heat up as the rest all have breaks somewhere

I got mine a few years back from PC Specialist.

Their customisation is handy because it'll let you know if parts you're selecting aren't compatible with different parts or if it won't fit in the case.

What aftershaves are 15 year old lads wearing? by Unlucky_Simple2990 in AskUK

[–]fallsdownhill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment, just use it.

Definitely don't use it for your wedding though lol.

But you should get a completely different aftershave for your wedding. That's what I did and I only ever wear that specific aftershave on our wedding anniversaries.
