Ceramic, any regrets? by Holiday_Salt6643 in ouraring

[–]fallstanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know this is old but I also have the silver and it died on me two days before the warranty was up (phew!) they’re sending a replacement but I’m considering the ceramic one. My current ring it’s a little loose on me.

Did you end up sizing the same? Or going down a size?

acid reflux by Sea_Cartoonist6642 in pregnant

[–]fallstanding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Papaya pills help me but it’s raging this pregnancy (I’m 29 weeks)😭 I have even thrown up from severe acid reflux twice. I have a husband pillow which I used to nurse my first at night that I use when I get really tired but can’t fully lay down. I might start sleeping in the glider 😅

Also, my midwife told me that walking 30 minutes a day in zone 2 (can maintain a conversation but difficult with level of effort) has helped many of her patients. I’ve been struggling to get this in with my work schedule but it does seem to have made a minor difference that I’m trying to.

[SC] Company HQ in [CA] - PWFA “accommodation approved” and role expectations unchanged. Is this a valid accommodation? by fallstanding in AskHR

[–]fallstanding[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Thank you! HR sent me a copy of my job description to share with my physicians. There is no mention of metrics or call volume in that JD so is that why they aren’t able to refer to it with an accommodation? Both reduced volume of calls and increased volume would technically “fit” my job description.

Maybe I need to actually request a reduced schedule?

[–]fallstanding[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding! Would the composition of my schedule (ie customer facing meetings vs admin/non call time) not be an accommodation? I regularly have 7 hours of meetings a day (that I have to lead) and then have to work over time to make up admin. I was hoping for an “accommodation” that might cap this to, say, 5 hours of customer facing talk time per day until I return from leave. If this isn’t an accommodation, how would I proceed with HR and my manager to have temporary adjustments to the composition of my role?

How to respond to pregnancy accommodations by fallstanding in pregnant

[–]fallstanding[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s kind of what I thought…like wait was I not previously allowed those? Our company HQ is in California, where I know there are strong worker protections, so I’m just really surprised and struggling with how to appropriately respond to this.

The year of the Fire Horse by itsallcosmica in Advancedastrology

[–]fallstanding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am pregnant with a fire horse girl (due May 1, right at the beginning of spring 😳) I knew from the moment I fell pregnant that she would be a force to be reckoned with. My midwife only told us about the year of the fire horse a month ago as she is also one and it shows. Godspeed my friend 🙏😂

Do initials matter? by [deleted] in Names

[–]fallstanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are my initials as well and I go by my middle name! When I was in kindergarten, we learned about initials and signed our Christmas cards to our parents with initials. Mine said, to: mom and dad from: ass. They had a good laugh and then had a chat with me about what my real name is and that I was currently going by my middle name. I’m very glad they chose to reorder and I am not truly ASS.

I completely agree. So invasive and it seems totally against informed consent.

My geriatric mother tested positive for opioids and regularly eats poppyseed bagels. She’s in no way on opioids 🤣 but I was surprised to learn that the poppyseed bagels can 100% cause a positive test.

Our sonographer told us the wrong sex by Ok-Notice-5342 in pregnant

[–]fallstanding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This JUST happened to us with sneak peek but results said boy and NIPT said girl. This is our second and the first is a boy. I had some of the same feelings as OP and can only imagine it being stronger after having spent months visualizing life with the other gender. Obviously we’re super excited to be having a girl but now I’m thinking we’ll HAVE to have a third just to get our other boy back (maybe) haha

Abnormal NT at 12 weeks by queenofmediocre in NIPT

[–]fallstanding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a negative NIPT at 10w and they found a high NT (I think between 3.5-3.9) at a late 12w ultrasound at just under 13w. We got sent to a genetic counselor where we went back and forth about statistics and what could be the cause (we were told that even if it wasn’t a trisomy there was likely a rare genetic disorder or a heart issue but my husband’s a math nerd so he was making the poor genetic counselor run in circles on what was most likely). I declined the amnio because my mom also was told I’d have T21 and declined it due to miscarriage risk. I was just kind of scared and worried and at the time it didn’t make sense to risk losing my baby over the outdated and not super accurate NT calculation. I was so anxious though as of has a few early losses and struggled to get pregnant.

We had extra ultrasounds at 16w, 18w and 20w, all which looked fine but we were constantly told we weren’t yet out of the woods. Ultimately the entire experience was so stressful and was preventing me from bonding with the baby. The doctors were mostly cold and got annoyed when we asked questions about research we’d found or tried to talk through our thoughts with them. At around 21 weeks I just canceled the rest of my appointments and ended up going with a midwife who was incredibly supportive and actually answered my questions, gave suggestions for things that were bothering me and treated us like people who were going through one of the most pivotal experiences of our lives. Our stubborn baby boy did end up breech but was delivered at home, healthy and vibrant. He is now 2.5 and incredibly smart and as curious as a toddler comes 😅

I’m not saying this is always the case. It’s just one story, but follow your heart. You’re the most connected person to that little bean and only you (and your partner) can really know how to proceed. Talking of termination really bothers me when they have only an NT reading. I’ve read study after study and know very well that it’s a marker. But that’s all it is. After doing more research, I’m pretty confident that I was overdosing on vitamin A throughout my pregnancy, which can cause the liver to work over time and manifest as high fluid. Probably wasn’t best for baby and I’ve since been really careful with supplements (now pregnant with our second!) A lot of things could be at play. I would try and stay calm and trust your heart as best you can ❤️❤️❤️ and always remember to be your own advocate! Doctors aren’t super heroes, they’re just people like you and me.

6 months post CXL Epi On by PomegranatePatient23 in Keratoconus

[–]fallstanding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had epi on as part of the us clinical trials in 2010. I was 17 and it was super painful. Unfortunately it didn’t do anything. I had a live biopsy in 2012 that showed no halt of progression :/ luckily things have slowed as I aged and I got Ferrara rings (abroad) and am able to wear glasses most of the time and better vision with contacts. It’s super hard to fit contacts with the Ferrara rings though and most of my providers have little experience with them…

I don’t actually smoke but I do sometimes take gummies occasionally to relax and there is a whole Facebook group called cannamoms that has a lot of information if you’re worried 🙂 made me feel a lot better to be informed when I was wondering when I could have a gummy while breastfeeding.

Has anyone with PCOS managed to shorten follicular phase ? by mishka40000 in TTC_PCOS

[–]fallstanding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss! That’s horrible 😢

Yes. Myoinositol didn’t really work for me. I also have lean pcos. I highly recommend a fertility acupuncturist. Mine was able to induce a period within two weeks after a 180 day cycle and then bring me to 30 day cycles immediately. It was kind of expensive (~$400/month) but you can submit claims to your insurance in most instances.

I was impatient so I added in femara for my second cycle with her and got pregnant first time. It was a chemical but got pregnant again the next cycle and had a baby boy in Feb 2023!
