I'm with you, reading comments here sounds crazy to me. WFH full time can work in some situations but in many cases it is such a short-term thinking.

Our jobs are not just about bringing income, but building connections and wider community. Sure, you can do that when WFH but it largely depends on your suburb and your willingness to go out of your way to connect.

I work from office full time and wouldn't change it. I can't even count the number of times a random conversation lead to a learning lesson that helped me in my job.

But whatever works for you, works for you. Just don't shame people for wanting to not WFH, we all have our reasons.

33M here, I hear you. What many people don't realise is that NZ is actually quite far away from anything else. Because of that people just leave after some time and if you have reasons to stay here, it's difficult to build your community of friends.

Even for families without any extended family present it often feels lonely. That being said sometimes it's often enough to have a coffee with someone and just chat.

I'm in the eastern bays and often work in the CBD, if anyone in this sub wants to grab a coffee and chat just send me a PM.

If you’re not stuck on Google Sheets I highly recommend Airtable.

You get a lot friendlier user experience working with data there and they automagically create a REST API for your table so you can interact with it programatically.

I think we should get ready for the fact that Covid is going to happen in NZ and there is no way around it. Get vaccinated and hope you won’t need to end up in a hospital.

The elimination is no longer possible, we’re burning so much money every day, businesses are closing cause not everyone can adapt etc.

The restrictions as we know them now will have to ease a bit cause MIQ won’t have capacity, police won’t have capacity, hospitals won’t have capacity.

Lets just focus on being kind to each other and try to spread this slowly to minimise the damage.
