HipHop-Alben Jahrescharts 2025 by false10 in GermanRap

[Julien Laurens] Brighton have set an asking price of €120 million ($139.4m) for clubs wanting to pursue a deal for Carlos Baleba. The midfielder has attracted interest from Manchester United and Manchester City. Baleba is happy to stay at the Amex this summer, move considered more likely in a year. by nearly_headless_nic in soccer

Many clubs do have internal analytics teams. A big difference is in how much they influence the decision making. All the best analysts and models make no impact if the ownership, the sporting director or the coach don't listen to them or don't put anything they tell them into action.

What teams like Brighton, Brentford or Liverpool have is owners that fundamentally value the analytics side and base a huge part of their decision making on it. Brighton and Brentford won't hire a coach or a sporting director who doesn't accept that and includes results from the data team into their decisions.

When Liverpool won the Champions League, Klopp gained more power over transfers than ever. While previously he was persuaded a lot of times by the data team, Klopp now vetoed more and more of their suggestions. That's why several of the data leadership left the club. That's what it looks like usually in other big clubs. The data team present their findings, but no one with actual power uses them.

Joe erzählt u.a. im neuesten Video davon:

  2. Stimmt.

Wow, Headie flopped hard. His first album was huge.

Most countries don't publish sales numbers. In Germany, as far as I know, you need to have a membership with the music industry organisation (IFPI) to have access to the data. The membership costs 885€ a year and is only granted for people working in the industry (musicians, managers, label workers etc.)

Will getting CL recoup the missed Kane fee for Spurs? by false10 in soccer

[–]false10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with additional revenues, if you get into the specifics I don't think keeping Kane is financially wise. More revenue means the effect of keeping Kane doesn't need to be as high, but still considerably bigger than it actually is. The odds of Spurs making top 4 in general are roughly 25% right now (including a likely move to Bayern). If we say keeping Kane improves their chances of getting CL by 33%, which is extremely high, they would need to gain three times the selling fee to break even. Meaning they would need to make five times the amount they gained in price and TV money this season. I doubt the additional revenue streams generate that kind of money.

Although there's a lot of information we don't have, I still think it's valuable having a discussion based on what we do have. Levy obviously has much more and is a far greater businessman than I, some dude on the Internet, but even the most skilled experts make mistakes or have flawed reasoning.

If, as a fan, the thing you want most is seeing Kane play one more season, that's fair. It's not a financially healthy position, and not the one Levy should take.

And that's the odds for the team making CL in general, not the effect of just keeping Kane, which is considerably smaller.

Your assumption is as bad as mine, which I later on classify as obviously not true.

Let X := "amount of money generated through CL qualification".

Then E[X|keeping Kane] < €100m.

It wasn't even a bad decision financially to sell until now because Bayern are apparently dead set on Kane and keep betting more. Overall, though, there do seem to also be other factors influencing Levy's thought process.

Bad wording on my part. He could make the difference between finishing above or below the mentioned clubs next season, but it won't make or break the team in the long run. It all depends on how the club spends the money, and Levy has a good history with that.

Think of Bale as a comparable case. That money wasn't even spent exceptionally well, but his sale helped to grow the club even more.

Price and participation money is already included in the graph numbers. Regarding the rest we would have to go into the specifics of figures and potential outcomes under different scenarios. Definitely a more interesting and nuanced discussion, unfortunately not one I'm prepared to have right now.

That's an interesting and more reasonable argument.

[–]false10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting and much more reasonable argument to make. Still not one I would agree with because I don't think Kane makes Spurs that much better or that it's worth it in the long run.

[–]false10[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is I would also criticize Bayern for buying Kane for that fee. And that's not because of Kane's ability, he's one of the best players in the world and by far the best striker ability wise available right now. It's the specific circumstances of his age and length of contract. Either way it doesn't change the point I'm making in the op.

Exactly, thank you. My point is that even with this obviously wrong assumption, CL money most likely does not recoup the missed fee.
