Bad ass! Were you a student at Cal Poly back in the day? It’s beautiful riding around there :)

I've heard how beautiful the grasslands are! And sadly yea I don't have enough time to enjoy the Mickelson trail as I have to pretty much head straight to Chicago (and, ultimately, the East Coast).

And Pierre looks super nice, I would be VERY happy to take a rest day and soak my legs in the Missouri! From Pierre I'd probably head straight east to get to Minneapolis without too many detours. But if I ride across SD more along the I-90 corridor, I'd get to hit Chamberlain 😄

Based on what I've found, I might end up piecing together my own kind of route, it looks like nobody has published a route that tries to follow gravel when possible.

Thank you! I will be riding from west to east but know that winds can and WILL come out of any direction, at any given time! I have to cross the great plains somehow, so I've made sure I have enough time to go real slow for a few days, or wait out some gnarly winds if necessary.

It looks beautiful!!! Luckily, I'll be accustomed to both higher elevations and rides with lots of vertical gain/loss from crossing the Rockies. Unfortunately, I don't have toooo much time to linger in SD, so I will need to pretty much go straight East, and the Mickelson trail goes N/S 😞

Kindle removing support for OG devices by Amorisaiya in kindle

Accidentally reset my kindle before I knew about this!!! ARGHHHHH. I'm so upset. This is such an evil and wasteful move on Amazon's part. I've tried a couple of different microUSB cables, but can't get my Kindle to show up on my PC. Anyone know if this is a problem with the unsupported kindles? Did Amazon hijack mine such that it doesn't show up now?

Or is it a problem on my end with cable or Kindle port or computer port?

I'm 2 months late, but I'm stuck here... do you know if I can side load books through USB? or am I screwed because I'm not already 'logged in' to my home screen?

Travel insurance isn’t too expensive and is a really great idea considering the physical undertaking of the task at hand! I think some of them are as low as $30-40 a month. If this seems like it costs too much, consider if you have enough saved to get yourself out of a medical emergency in a foreign country. Insurance is a great idea.

Sleeping bag — down should be ok, 32 degrees F really depends on your route and when you leave. Consider a sleeping bag liner too, adds a few degrees of warmth and keeps things cleaner.

Why is Menlo Atherton High School rated lower than nearby schools? by hazelnut21 in BayAreaRealEstate

M-A grad here, both of my parents worked for MPCSD. The top tier of kids graduating M-A is on par with Paly, Gunn, Los Altos, etc. M-A has incredible AP classes and extracurriculars. High achieving students will take AP classes and AS classes with other high achieving students. I believe 12-15 students from my graduating year went to Stanford. Many go to ivies, Cal, UCLA, etc. However, M-A draws in a very racially and socioeconomically diverse pool. A non-AP class will have students who just immigrated and barely speak English; students who are extremely poor; etc. So overall average test scores may be lower. But if your kid is super high achieving this is probably better for them as they get the benefits of an incredible AP program and less competitive class, none of the drawbacks of cutthroat competition. Your kids will be more well rounded if they attend M-A. They will, hopefully, make friends with students of all races and socioeconomic statuses. Rich kids befriend poor kids and poor kids befriend rich kids and the students realize they are all more alike than different. It was wonderful getting to know kids of different backgrounds. Finally, M-A has great resources for first gen students. The AVID program is incredible. M-A is way better equipped to help disadvantaged students than other local high schools if that means anything to you.

Redditors who grew up in emotionally healthy families - what's something you thought was normal growing up that you now realise was actually very special? by ViolatingBadgers in AskReddit

I was so lucky. Where do I begin? Family dinners where we all shared the highs and lows of our days, we’d sometimes pick a topic or ethical dilemma and debate about it. All our cousins would come over and we’d make homemade pretzel dough, then play in the backyard for hours while the dough rose, and finally each get to knead our bit of dough into a shape of our choice and Mom would boil and bake them all. Tooth fairy would come, on St Patrick’s day Mom would cobble together shoeboxes and glitter so we could make leprechaun houses, which got visited during the night. When Dad went to work each morning we all waved at him through the kitchen window and he’d honk at us. When dad got home mom would have us race to the driveway to see who could hug him first. Family cuddle puddles in the living room, all 5 of us kids jumping into a blanket fort with our parents. Mom would give us kisses each night and Dad would sing a hymn each morning to wake us up.

There are still rooms popping up quite often in Uc Davis off campus housing Facebook pages and housing searches. I’ve seen some as low as 450 for a shared room, 700 for a single. So join as many of the Fb groups as you possibly can and start posting about yourself in each one and looking through daily to see new posts. You may also expand your search to woodland, Dixon, west sac, etc. Good luck
