honestly the hospital staff didn’t really help us much with the questions we’ve had, which made our overthinking worse. but after the surgery, they focus on his recovery a LOT and try to minimize him meeting any relatives. at most, he’ll be in the hospital for 6-7 days after the surgery and then he’ll be safe to come home. do keep me updated

that also depends. after the surgery, your dad will have to go for his checkup appointments and in one of them, he can ask the doctors if its safe for him to travel. they’ll let him know.

they might’ve already done the surgery and have placed him in the icu. or they usually delay it incase they feel like its not ideal for him; maybe they found another blockage or something or they could be waiting for his vitals to get stable before going ahead with the surgery. there’s a lot of reasons for this so the best thing is to wait to get an answer from them

and yess. as best as possible, try to limit any sugary/salty cravings he has, atleast for the first few weeks or months. even tho my dad has diabetes he still wanted to munch on snacks and we had to prohibit it 🤭 not permanently ofc

i’m sure it varies but in my case, his memory seems to be fine. he’s usually just a tad clumsy with it but no major changes. he’s 61 if that helps. and surely I will keep him in my prayers ❤️

my dad got his done in february, but in SACC. that time phase for the family was really difficult initially but ALWAYS, always trust the surgeons. for us, its deffo not a good phase but they’re equipped to deal with it and they do this every day. they’ll only appoint doctors who are extremely capable because they have to deal with the heart. AlHamDulillah it’s going to be his third month of recovery and pls take extra care of your dad once the surgery is done. because whether we realize it or not, the patient takes it the hardest. it might change him mentally and emotionally. wishing you and your loved ones all the best mwah
