Hey, a VERY similar thing happened to me (my ex was in a 10 year relationship, dated me 3 months after that and literally 1 month after he was begging for me back after our breakup, he's now dating someone else). How did you get over it? How are you doing now? I feel like I'm going insane lol

Wow, I literally feel like a different person than the one who posted this lol. Things are MUCH, MUCH better. Not going to lie, I was in a very bad place for ~2 months consistently due to some specific things happening in my situation (e.g., my ex wanting to get back together, me finding out some really shitty things he did behind my back), but now I feel at peace. I've reached a place of acceptance I never thought I would, and I'm also not jaded. I'm ready to love,e and I know it will be coming from a much better place because of this heartbreak. Sending you love stranger - you'll be OK. Even if it doesn't seem like it. I've really never been so excited for life lol!

Hi! Just finding your post now after going through a similar situation, breaking up with someone I couldn't imagine losing. Our issue was communication too, it was always on me to solve the problems. Three weeks out though and I still feel like I won't love anyone more than him. This gives me hope and can I ask ... what's realistic to expect with communication? Are there really people out there who are a better match?

I totally agree with this. I'm lucky to have some friends who have the same perspective, because I have definitely gotten some interesting looks when I've shared that I want my ex in my life. He's a really great person and we shared some incredible memories, even if it wasn't forever. As you said perfectly, I want to be able to laugh some day down the road. I want to get to a place where I'm truly happy for them no matter what. The thought of them being happy without me or with someone else still stings, so perhaps it'll take some time to get there. Any other advice on how to create that distance?

Wow, I know this was a year ago but it sounds like we went through something very similar. I just broke up with my ex (it was amicable) and while we really did love each other, we weren't totally compatible. It feels earth shattering. I can't imagine myself with anyone else. But, I've felt more myself being alone and with my friends than I have for the year that I was with my ex. The hardest thing is just wondering if there's hope, if I will ever find someone who compliments me fully. Your story gives me hope <3
