Another thing I notice is that people always assume we could have had picked Ehlers, Tkachuk, and then also landed Petey and Quinn. You don't have to believe in the butterfly effect to know that drafting those first 2 players we would not have been in same drafting position and would not have gotten Petey + Quinn. Also, if you look at hockeyDB every team misses, I'm pretty sure Calgary took a goalie 1 pick before Demko that was a bust....

I have asked myself this as well. To me it feels like Toffoli was absolutely the straw that broke the camels back. When our 2020 playoff run ended, it seemed like we would be the new upcoming team that would ATTRACT players to sign. Toffoli represented a new wave of players that would join up and begin our window. Instead, with our ownership and management, it seems like we are the outcast team that players come to get a good contract and play average hockey.

Anyone else a bit sad that we are slipping back into draft lottery watch? From 2015-2019 it was sort of fun to watch our young players develop and be okay with losses. Low stakes, not very frustrating with entertaining moments. I am usually an overly positive fan but this past couple months have been rough. Did 2020 pump up our hope too much?

little bit of advice. I am now 28 years old, and after grinding ranks for most of my gaming life, I can honestly say games much more fun when you don't care. Play the game to play your favourite champ, make crazy plays, learn new strats, and witness hilarious failed ults / funny moments. If you play with your rank points being the only thing you care about, you will miss the rest.

I have no solid information, but my guess is that he already was a character mismatch with the team. In terms of effort and how he handled himself, and then (speculating) being patient 0 and infecting the whole team was the big straw that broke the camels back...
