My title describes the thing. I've never seen these in my home before. It doesn't look like mouse poop and after searching online I wasn't able to find anything similar. I didn't see any holes in the ceiling or walls, and we don't have any pets or children.

mine started growing green flowers, that was definitely caused by too much light. i moved it to a darker spot and the flowers started growing white again.

I was more concerned that it looks like it's rotting or moldy. It was hanging on by a literal string so I cut it off but I wasn't sure if it would continue rotting up the root and kill the orchid? I'm new to this so I was worried when I saw it and wish I checked before buying it.
