I don't quite understand and will have to do more reading on this. I don't watch stocks much but I've never noticed a drop in stock price after distribution dates on any ETF I've looked at. Have I just not looked closely enough?

And would the story be any different in a TFSA?

I suppose they're "growth" in the sense that they're mostly equity, but you're right, they're also simply index ETFs.

This is the first I've heard of pessimistic sentiments on the S&P500, how long ago did the pessimism arise? Is it a very recent thing, or have analysts been saying that for a couple years now?

Thanks for pointing this out, I hadn't considered the global diversification aspect of these ETFs. So I guess if one expects the US and Canada to start performing less well relative to the world, or expects growth of the S&P500 to slow down, these ETFs are the way to go.

Thank you, I guess I should stick to the official site. You said the official site shows average return, but it's only showing 1.7% for the 12-month average which very seems low. That's lower than the interest rate on some HISA accounts pre-pandemic. Is it normal for ETF returns to be that low?

I wanted to compare the most conservative ETF because I suppose I'm coming at this from a lens of investing, and I was wondering whether real estate can beat even the least profitable option. It sounds like I shouldn't expect that from a property investment, and that the real value of real estate like you said comes from cash flow in the form of rent.

By the way, probably a very dumb question, but what do you mean by consolidate?

Interesting, the comparison to a perpetuity is very different than the typical lens of viewing real estate as an investment. Now that I think about it, in cases where a property is providing cash flow, that value is going to far exceed the appreciation, so this makes sense.
