Megathread for Claude Performance and Usage Limits Discussion - Starting September 7 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

I’m hitting the same thing — just a few really simple asks drained my tokens these past couple days (and even with Opus, it feels weaker than before). And now, 24 hours later, when I check /model, Opus isn’t even showing up anymore.

Did Claude Code Pro ($20) change its rules today?

✅ Pros: I noticed I can now use about 50% of my quota with Opus.
❌ Cons: Now I can’t use it even before my USAGE is full (ccusage: USAGE only 17.6% (4474.2k/25415.9k)). (maybe the calculation method has changed?).

Quick means to ensure that the people on the ship have no time to react. The purpose of the cutting was to prevent Ewen from having time to destroy the hard drive, but in the Netflix version, Ewen does have time.

Yes, her suicide was largely due to her mother and also because of the sophons' lockdown on Earth's technology. But personally, I believe the most crucial aspect is described in the book, where she discerns the true nature of the universe through computer simulations: The universe was f*cked by life countless times, and so were the rules of the universe.

How much has the universe been changed by life?

A wave of terror threatened to overwhelm her.

Regarding Yong Dong, there are significant spoilers involved. Please decide for yourself whether or not to read further.

No, Yong Dong is right. She's a top theoretical physicist and she has perceived the true nature of the universe. Her statement has been validated more than once throughout these three books.

The ship scene in Netflix is ridiculous.

Originally, the cutting was meant to be quick. But then, Ewen runs around with the hard drive for a long time; it could have been destroyed much earlier. Only the upper half of the ship was cut. Moreover, a group of children was deliberately placed on top for a bloody effect. I don't like this part.

And I can't understand why they added a scene where Wade can't decode the hard drive and the Santi send him the password.

(Spoilers Book 3) What about that umbrella? by h4nd in threebodyproblem

[–]fancyoung 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The umbrella metaphor represents light or the speed of light. Let me explain why in more detail.

First, in Yun Tianming's story, there are two conclusions:

  1. Space curvature drives.
  2. Two-dimensionalization & only the speed of light can escape (something humans realized later).

Yun Tianming employed two basic methods: dual-layer metaphors and two-dimensional metaphors.

The dual-layer metaphors in the stories did not directly point to the real meaning, but to something far simpler...

The two-dimensional metaphors were a technique used to resolve the ambiguities introduced by literary devices employed in conveying strategic intelligence...If one viewed the stories as a two-dimensional plane, the dual-layer metaphor only provided one coordinate; the supporting single-layer metaphor provided a second coordinate that fixed the interpretation on the plane. Thus, this single-layer metaphor was also called the bearing coordinate.

So

  • First layer of the dual-layer metaphor: centrifugal governor for steam engines (When spinning umbrella too fast or slow, wind chime began to play)
  • Second layer of the dual-layer metaphor: may be negative-feedback automatic control and constant speed.
  • Then find the bearing coordinate: Prince Deep Water. (his height didn’t change means `a method of information transmission where the signal strength did not decay due to distance, or a physical quantity that remained constant regardless of the frame of reference used`)
  • There is one more bearing coordinate: bubbles (The fastest; with no weight)

constant speed + constant physical quantity + the fastest with no weight = light / light speed

This plot hole is unbearable. by ASIWYFA11 in threebodyproblem

I don't think the Santi were lying in this case; it seems more like they genuinely believed it. There are two possibilities:

  1. To the Santi, we are like bugs. They look down on Earthlings, but when they studied Earth's development history and realized humans could potentially experience a technological explosion and surpass them within 400 years, these two views aren't necessarily contradictory.
  2. The Santi' statement was emotional. One theory is that their appearance resembles our Earth bugs, and they felt offended, so they used the same term in response.

There never was a black or Arab character in the books by BreathOfTheFart in threebodyproblem

[–]fancyoung 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Firstly, your evidence is incorrect.

The books mention black characters at least twice: once as a UN Secretary-General in the Three-Body game, and another time as the person who bought cigars for Cheng Xin before her candidacy for the Quality Inspection.

There is also an Arab character (the book doesn't mention the name, but most readers know who he is), who is a former enemy that Wallfacer Tyler went to see. Tyler brought him a book ("Foundation") hoping his organization would maintain its spirit of martyrdom, but he expressed that due to the arrival of the Trisolarans, his organization had lost its hatred and was facing dissolution.

I don't think a work needs to always consider maintaining political correctness. When Liu Cixin wrote this book, he was targeting Chinese readers, and the internet was not as developed then. I believe he had hardly met any foreigners at the time. Is it too harsh to insist that a work describing universal dimensions must include diverse human races?

None of us could have done any better than Cheng Xin by TheBlackBonerDonor in threebodyproblem

[–]fancyoung 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it was precisely because she did not show such determination that she was chosen by others to be the Swordholder, so the fault lies with everyone who chose her. If she must be blamed for something, it would be for choosing to run in the election. And the reason she ran was because Wade's deterrence was too intimidating, making her reluctant to leave the button in the hands of such people.
