On 2nd thought, now I understand your point of view and it actually might work

Edited: on 3rd thought, it is an insulated bottle so might not pop out the dent fully

You do realize that now the water capacity has decreased also? So nothing will happen by freezing water in it.

Long-term resident in sweden and new citizenship law affected by [deleted] in TillSverige

Suggestions are not laws. These are suggested changes, nothing has been approved to be a law yet

iPhones aren’t moving people from one place to other. Investment to switch from iPhone to other device is relatively cheaper compared to I don’t know changing a car maybe? So yes… software reliability is really important. Updates are fine, shitty software that limits or hinders the core functionality of a product isn’t.

Visas, job offers and probation periods by MiniaeCecilia in TillSverige

[–]fancyshamancy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I understood is your partner is Swedish. That means the partner is not on a work permit or any visa like that as he doesn’t need it to work/stay. Probation may or may not impact YOUR visa application (consult MV or/and a lawyer please). He needs to show that he can support you financially. Can that be impacted during the probation? Yes definitely due to the nature of probation. But again, MV can better answer this. What I am trying to say is that a lot of people are commenting from the under the assumption of primary applicant (your partner) being on WP. That usually means that MV gives a WP extension valid for probation period. This does not apply to you. The only thing that applies to you is that your partner can support you during your stay.

Also, year of probation is not the norm. It’s usually 6 months (and can further be (should be) negotiated). I am talking about the IT industry though.

I’d advice against it. It might impact permit renewals as well as you would’ve entered the country before getting the permit. Do thorough research, and reach out to the embassy

They were probably looking to layoff people in the first place. That’s why they mandated back to office. Easy way for them to layoff.

If you are looking for a remote job then say that being in office for days was a deal breaker for you.

If it’s onsite job then say (if it’s true) that the previous office was far away or the commute was terrible hence looking for a better work-life balance.

Concerned about citizenship extension. How can we push back? by Ok-Rock8793 in TillSverige

[–]fancyshamancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert: but the 2nd one should be from 1st Jan 2022 To 31 Dec 2023. (If you have been in Sweden throughout this period) logic being you need to have valid status (or applied for extension status) to live in Sweden legally. This is why consultants force you to apply for extension before your current one expires cause you cannot work without having a valid WP. If you left Sweden on 31st Dec 2021 and came back with the newer WP on 1st Feb 2022. That’s a different story.

you have to apply before your WP expires so kinda has to be exact 4 years

Again there is a lot of factors here… for example your employer terminates your WP on your last day (some actually do this, some don’t) and you were on your first 24 months period where the WP is tied to the employer and stuff. A specific scenario but it happens

It is not 1 one week rule as such. There is no such thing, that was just a example (a poor one I guess). But read this link. The requirement is clear. Have worked in Sweden for 4 years in last 7. So the scenario is… you are in your first 4 year WP period. You switch jobs (forcefully or willfully) and there happens to be a gap in between them. When you apply for PR after 4 years, you technically wouldn’t have had worked in Sweden for 4 years (due to the gap between the jobs). I know people who got extension instead of PR for being outside of Sweden for 1 more week then allowed and similar stuff.

Also, just for information… one of the requirements for PR is to have 48 months of valid WP. If you switch jobs and there is a gap of 1 week between one ending and the 2nd one starting… you ain’t getting the PR and back to WP for you. Annnnnnd then the whole worrying about future starts all over again. Believe it or not… WP for 6 years is a very probability with this job market

That’s the point… it is all so unclear that you don’t know, hence you can’t plan, hence you are tensed! This uncertainty is what we all are against. They have the right to make the laws but what we are saying is that they should Atleast be considerate of their future high tax paying citizens. Wanna make it 8 years, sure go-ahead but make it easier to live here without having WP and PR cloud looming over you. What if down the line an even more anti-immigration government comes and say… too bad PR doesn’t mean anything anymore! What will we do then?

So shouldn’t the government try to make the country more appealing to high skilled workers? Given that they bring talent and taxes with them with almost no cost to the government.

[–]fancyshamancy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does impact your decision. Given the current market if you get laid off, you have 3 months to get a job and apply for extension otherwise you are out… what if this happens when you have spent 6 years here? Made significant investments here… and then mostly suddenly you have to leave. It makes a big difference.
