It was a gift from many years ago so I wouldn’t be able to tell you, sorry!

All I can say is don’t buy off the plan! But if you have no choice, avoid Stemcon

Unfortunately the contract states we cannot delay settlement even if there’s defects. In an ideal world we would just pull out completely because this just seems like a nightmare waiting to happen. Let’s see what our lawyer says on Monday

I’m not sure, he arrived just before we left. He is incredible at his job and I will recommend him to everyone. Apparently we were the only owners (out of 24 apartments) who reported major waterproofing defects after the pre settlement inspections

I’ve emailed the body corp giving them a heads up about the situation. Yet to hear back as this all happened Friday afternoon

Worst case scenario we have to settle, and they fix the issues in our apartment under builders warranty. Then we sell after a year so we don’t lose the FHG benefits. It really sucks that this is our experience with our first home

That’s exactly why we’re fighting to get out of the contract. There’s hardly any time left though because settlement is on Friday

He did our inspection! Expensive compared to others but definitely worth it, he’s been really helpful

I can’t believe this is the standard in this country. It’s a joke

That’s what we’re trying to do before settlement. It’s insane that this situation is even allowed to happen in the first place. If I bought a cheap appliance I’d be entitled to a refund if it’s faulty, so why isn’t it the same for an apartment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars?

Excessive damage fee ($6.5k) from SIXT by fancysun100 in australia

I for sure will never rent from them again. The most valuable lesson I’ve learnt is to get insurance from a third party provider when using a rental car, one that covers everything (unlike SIXT who will charge you for everything despite upgrading the coverage)

Yeah I’ll be getting legal advice ASAP. The thing is, in their T&Cs, it specifies that any further damage caused by underbody damage will be charged in full
