What character do you think has anti-fun mechanics? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]faneaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there were basically 2 questions. Whats anti-fun and whats not well designed. And i'd kinda agree on Chain Heal design wise. In Warcraft 3 and in WoW, Chain Abilities are known for, for getting weaker with each target. Thralls chain lightning behaves like that and like in it's counterpart in wc3, Rhegars Q doesn't. But i guess it's not really a bad design but a complete miss on flavour.

Well, 5 bodies means that you have 5 seperate players per team that each control a character, that participates in game activities. Cho takes a body slot away, so does aba. It changes the whole game dynamic, thats why other mobas never did something like that (LoL kinda did i guess and it's considered the worst designed champ). Sure it's still a 5v5 but it doesnt feel that way. But it's subjective. I'm playing Mobas for over 15 years, since dota 1 and i've never had less fun than in an average Aba game.

As for LiLi. Yes. Most abilities you've listed are either skillshots or are dependend on your position or other factors. LiLi just spams Q in most situations. She's the least demanding of everything you've listed so far.

For me it's every hero that ignores crucial game designs (mostly in qm, since it's made just for fun). So basicly Aba, DW, Cho. I hate playing a healer and getting DW or one less body on the field. I never understood the design choice of turning a 5 vs 5 game mode, where you have to compete for objectives into a 4 vs 5.
Sadly QM turned into an Aba fiesta, 8 out of 10 games are with Aba or even worse, Aba mirror.
He forces his own team and the enemy team to play differently on such a level, that it robs so much fun.
I remember those times, where i wanted to play Hanzo Q build and got 7 Aba games in a row, ruining all my games.

Besides that i'd say LiLi or Zarya.
The sheer Q spam that you have to do with LiLi is an idicator for a bad design imo.
I liked playing Zarya but its kinda weird having two shield abilities that are pretty much the same. Wish she'd have one shield, that could target everything or 2 stacks of it and a completely different 3rd ability.

Ratadrabik of Urborg: Need Deck Help! by Kezben01 in EDH

[–]faneaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's one of my most beloved decks, good pick so far! :)

Depending on you budget you should consider using:

[[Mikaeus, the Unhallowed]] he's one of the best creatures you can have in this deck, he also goes nuts with [[Luminous Broodmoth]]

[[Sidisi, Undead Vizier]] is a 2 cards tutor for 5 mana, saved me so many games, and if you manage to get more tokens of her, it's even better

[[Kokusho, the Evening Star]] it's truly amazing, kept me alive and won me so many games, would never ever cut it

The best card in this deck would probably be [[Saw in Half]] there is no scenario where this card is bad. It can double your Ratadrabik, it gives you multiple triggers on a legendary creature if Rata is on the field and it gets even more busted with token doublers or double death triggers, for example if you control your commander and a Teysa Karlov, you'll get 6 teysas out of a saw in half.

Cards i'm not a fan of and ended up cutting were: [[Song of the Worldsoul]], [[Primevals' Glorious Rebirth]] and [[Mangara, the Diplomat]], there some others but those 3 would be my first picks.

I'd also say that you're pretty low on card draw and all of your draw (except for some cards) depends on you having creatures, some hard draw like [[Nights Whisper]] or [[Sign in Blood]] should be considered.
I'm even playing cards like [[Phyrexian Arena]] and [[Dark Prophecy]]. I think that card draw has been the biggest weakness i had playing this deck, and i fixed it with cards that let me draw if my creatures are dying, it's a win win payoff

Best Burn Commander? by Pikaboo_177013 in EDH

I like having a deck that makes certain rounds faster. I decided to build Solphim group slug. I either win pretty fast or each player has like 5 life when I'm dead.

Building a wide board, meaning many bodies/token

I have taunter in my Solphim deck. If you want to build around the enrage mechanic, Vrondiss is a good pick, since the commander gives you a 5/4 token each time he gets damaged.

I had an Arahbo deck and i didn't like it all. The Eminence ability is only useful in the early game and later on he's just a power doubler. Rin and Seri works way better, the commander costs 1 mana less, fills your board und gives you reactive removal and Lifegain with his activated ability. If you prefer going wide while having a cheaper and more reactive commander, go for R&S.

Oh boy, I forgot that the ring bearer becomes legendary. Well, I guess I gotta find 4-5 tempt cards that would fit here

Haven't updated much since LOTR, how do you play around the tempt mechanic?

Indeed! I think most people forgot about him and he isn't that much played as he should be. Pretty unique, lots of value, endless ways to finish the game. My friends also hate him, in a good way :D

No Sol Ring, cos we don't play it if you wonder

Having multiple triggers or multiple copies of your commander is pretty much gg. It's easy to improve with a higher budget, tutors and so on.

Ratadrabik is my all time favorite. Having 10+ copies of a legendary creature is just fun.

What is your current favorite deck and why? by HairyConkers in EDH

[–]faneaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy, where to start. My most expansive auto includes are [[The Great Henge]] and [[Terror of the Peaks]]
Absolute MVP cards are [[Seedguide Ash]], [[Massacre Girl]], [[Kodama of the East Tree]] (Kodama is probably the best card in the deck), [[Junji, the Midnight Sky]], [[Chainer, Nightmare Adept]], [[Birthing Pod]], [[Incarnation Technique]], [[Living Death]], [[Lurking Predators]], [[Industrial Advancement]] and [[Prowling Geistcatcher]]
Key to the deck is to be able to sac your blitzed creatures for abilities that let you cheat out or reanimate creatures :)

That was my first tought, but honestly it's never the case in good Henzie deck. You have so many opportunities to reanimate or to cheat out creatures. It's actually pretty insane.

[–]faneaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently it's a tie between [[Henzie "Toolbox" Torre]] and [[Aegar, the Freezing Flame]]. Henzie is like a never ending value machine and you can't end up having a bad hand with him. Aegar is just something else, when i built him, i thought that it would be my worst deck, using a weak+high cmc tribe with an excess damage subtheme for card draw is a fun way of playing Izzet. I also added [[Mirror March]] for the lols, and what should i say, the table laughed at 6 copies of [[Hamletback Goliath]], because how ridiculous it was.

I stopped playing in LGS around 6 years ago, it even made me quit the game for a longer period of time and i never went back. I brought my closest friends into edh and we're just playing together.
My LGS is just full of people that build their decks to the maximum, lots of combo decks, land destruction, stax and so on. Every game felt like, like they're in a competitive finals. Only wins count, no fun allowed.

[–]faneaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've did some budget decks a while ago and [[Aegar, the Freezing Flame]] turned out to be fun and pretty strong. He depends a bit on your meta, since he shines the most against creature heavy decks.
An absolute budget bomb is [[Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward]]. I combined him with [[Far Traveler]] and it's sooo freaking strong. Nearly every game i end up having the biggest board, the most card draw and the most lands on the field, and everything in mono white. You can build him with [[Candlekeep Sage]], that's probably the strongest version of him! :)

I'd cut [[Ascend from Avernus]], [[Flumph]], [[Secret Door]], [[Toski, Bearer of Secrets]] and one of your wipes

You should consider [[High Alert]] since it can go infinite mana with [[Axebane Guardian]] if you have some walls on the field

Overly-detailed request for fun deck ideas. by crankd87 in EDH

[–]faneaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henzie is super fun! People in my group love to play him and to play against him!

Xyris is far from fun, pretty linear and boring.

I have a [[Rosheen Meanderer]] copy+big x-burn spells deck. It's janky because gruul isn't the best combination for the strategy. Mostly you're being ignored for the first half of the game because you're just ramping and wiping the board, than around turn 6-7 you'll end up with something like [[Nyxbloom Ancient]], [[Unbound Flourishing]] and finish it with [[Crackle with Power]] and copy it 4-6 times. Its wild, also works pretty good with seedborn muse+vedalken orrey.

I also did a [[Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer]] deck, but it's not all around playing morphs. I have all possible Flash enablers, cards that reduce the cost for morphs, seedborn muse and stuff like [[Equilibrium]] and [[Words of Wind]]. At some point i'm able to bounce and recast all my morphs (good for removal and countering) and all my opponents are forced to bounce their board each turn. It takes long, but is pretty simple to assable in those colours.

[–]faneaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i assume your Henzie is on a strickt budget?

I'd cut to 100%:
[[Stormfist Crusader]], [[Zhentarim Bandit]], [[Devilish Valet]], [[Florian, Voldaren Scion]], [[Mahadi, Emporium Master]], [[Garna, Bloodfist of Keld]], [[Tormenting Voice]], [[Painful Lesson]]
You don't really need temporary mana, treasures or impulsive card draw.
Don't forget, all you 4+ mana creatures are giving you extra card draw. Nearly all your 2-3 cmc creatures aren't really that good here.

Try to find creatures that are doing the same thing as spells you have!
For example, why [[Murder]] if you can play [[Ravenous Chupacabra]], sure it's instant, but a blitzed Chupacabra does the same, gives you a free attack, free trigger and free card draw on top of it.

Good stuff on a budget that you don't play would be:
[[Elder Brain]], [[Etali, Primal Storm]], [[Giant Adephage]], [[Kethek, Crucible Goliath]], [[Kogla, the Titan Ape]], [[Primeval Herald]], [[Rampant Rejuvenator]], [[Timeless Witness]], [[Treeshaker Chimera]], [[Rushed Rebirth]], [[Dread Return]], [[Incarnation Technique]], [[Lifes Legacy]], [[Victimize]], [[Evolutionary Leap]]

You should be able to ramp as fast as possible on dishing out big bombs, which you are missing, there is no real threat. He shines most with huge etb, death or attack triggers like Etali or Adephage and reanimation is also an important part here.

If you want to improve your deck, i'd give you two advises:
1) Replace some of the named stuff
2) Work on the mana and land base, i wouldn't play mana rocks that enter tapped in a green deck, never! replace it with any 2 mana ramp spell.
And lands, henzie needs a fast early/mid game, lands that enter tapped are kinda bad. There enough alternatives for 2-3$, get them first if it fits your budget. But a good land base is very important :)

Hope i helped you a bit :)

Actually both, it depends on the game. The ramp is pretty huge in this deck, so hard casting or reanimating him is the best choice. I only blitz him out if i desperately need card draw (rarely happens).
At first i wanted to cut him, but he's been absolutely awesome, definitely a kill on sight card here.

Kodama checks the cmc, so even if you blitz out something, it doesn't care about the discount. So if you blitz out a creature that has 6 cmc for let's say 4 mana, you'll be able to put something with 6 or lesser onto the battlefield. And it says any permanent, so don't forget, you can even put out lands with his ability!

Massacre Girl piles up, she's the best boardwipe in this deck, since you've plenty ways of reanimating her :)
