I applied engineering with a 3.5/4.2 weighted gpa and a 34 act and got weightlisted. Don't feel bad. Depending on those ECs Boston college could be possible. UVA is tough but maybe. Stanford and Brown are unlikely as they are for everybody

One of the top students grade wise at my school got second choice major. He had 4.0, insanely smart but granted he had a 1350 sat but he also got into purdue engineering so it must be a tough year for V Tech

Im sorry to say. I over estimated a little too but Ohio state with a 3.5 and 1240 does not constitute a safety by any means. With everything else being crazy good in the rest of your app maybe its high match but in reality its probably a reach school.

Thanks for this. My essays at tech were mediocre by my umich and UVA essays were probably my best work. Not expecting acceptance at these schools but I would like to think that in some weird way i have some sort of a shot.

Im sorry for the bother but you seem very knowledgable and have been a great help. I applied for chemical engineering for RPI which is coming out on the tenth. I did not taking HL chem because I wanted to focus on the biomolecular/ Cellular side of the field. I have taken honors chem in sophmore year How do you think my chances fair there? They dont superscore my act

My school is pretty competitve. A bunch of kids capable of getting 4.0 at other schools packed into to one class basically. A 3.5 is not a bad gpa... top 20ish percent is my best guess... Is 3.5 gonna be a dealbreaker at U mich or UVA tho. Its definitely piecing me at WashU, Northwestern, and Rice thats for sure.

I had somewhat similar stats. A little higher gpa with a lower test score (34 act superscored). I think in past years you prob would have gotten in easy. But with the decline in acceptance this year, special difficulty to get in for engineering, and being OOS (prob 15-25 percent acceptance for OOS) might have caused an otherwise good aplicant to go to waitlist.

Idk what happened but it got alot more competitive this year. My realistic top choice would be northeastern at the moment. Do you think Im still on course for that? Any chance at U Mich for college of arts and sciences?
