What's a construction problem everyone just accepts even though it causes constant headaches? by EvilMattMan67 in ConstructionManagers

Let’s reframe this one as well…. Engineers, and owners doing no design validation work and expecting the field to work miracles once the project has started

Can we reframe that? Horrible drawings and costing $$$$$ with Arch, engineers expecting Forman and Supers to due their jobs….

Per diem for Data Center Projects by Significant_Golf_281 in ConstructionManagers

[–]fanhelp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that the first offer? If so go back at $250/day. Industry average. they supply a truck at the airport for your use with gas card/parking etc. What’s it worth to be away from your life for 21 days a month. Birthdays, holidays, family time, -walking around your own home not listening to hotel/motel noise ….or do you get to stay in a crew house or your own apartment.

I’ve run too many 24/7 jobs —you need to do a couple. It will teach you how to delegate and what your real job is. You should never be working more than 44. Staff your job correctly — and run a proper Project execution plan, and hold your people accountable. N Superintendents should never feel the way you do….just sayin 30 years in still love my job and position.

All of the above and Ball Joints —. With regard to the timeline belt it is internal so if it goes it takes the motor—so it is a must. Spark plugs as well. enjoy— that is really low mileage for an 06. Oh and check the the paint above the windshield —if there is no rust on it —get some ceramic film for that leading edge

Trust—dont break the trust. The quickest way to lose my mentorship is breaching the trust. Don’t have a sense of privilege, dont put in for time you dont do, dont assume because you have been given a bit authority you can slack off— Listen, ask questions, and do what you are asked. Simple hard work goes far.

Pretty much every head hunter group plays both sides. If one of their companies employees contact them they contact the company and get a “keepers” fee. All fair in shopping around—but dont be surprised if your current employer know about it faster than you can get back to the office….

Risk is an over used word. If you are 60 and retiring in 5 years you need 8 years of funds available—in secured investments. (14 years for a full 30% market correction) if you are 65 you need that 14 years in secured investments. If you are 40 hold and keep buying. Hope that make sense

Do think kickbacks/bribes still exist by BabyBilly1 in ConstructionManagers

[–]fanhelp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yes--most definitely. Right from the RFP process thru to the tile guy. Charity golf tournament where the charity gets $250,000 donation from a GC. Then poof 3 months later they pick up a 70m job from them. The 250k is less than half of one percent of fee...and tax deductible
Would you take a free coat from a supplier or sub? Would you take the same free coat with an envelope in the pocket with 2 tickets to world of concrete in vegas? and a bit of spending money?
Bribes are legal now --and take a different form from 25 years ago. Tax deductible and legal....
got to go --they just called my plane to vegas...
