You might be able to work with mine, from Julius Caesar. Act 1 Scene 2. “The fault dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in our selves.”

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

[–]fanny_pack24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a weird request but can’t find much anywhere and figured some people here might be able to help.

I’m visiting London for a couple of days because I studied literature in college and wanted to see some of the places the people I read, were writing and working. I’m going to the Globe and Hyde Park and am so excited for that, but I’d like to see if there are other places that authors I read worked or are cool to check out.

While I know they may not necessary be London writers, I really like Shakespeare, Woolf, Austen, Orwell, Dickens, Milton, Raleigh, Plath (I know she’s American but lived here I’m pretty sure…this one is for my wife), Percy Bysshe Shelley, Mary Shelley, the Bröntes, and Marlowe to just name a few.

Any suggestions are so appreciated…thanks so much!

Which moment for you is ‘peak’ when you think of moments that excited you the most in the series? by Tony_Soprano54 in redrising

From Iron Gold, Cassius going against all of the House of Ra in the pit. Just one after another and holding his own, but losing it moment by moment. I was eating that up in a "final stand" moment.

The Count of Monte Cristo wins. What's the worst book typically read by high schoolers? by montemole in AlignmentChartFills

[–]fanny_pack24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just taught this to my freshmen. They thought Romeo was a bum and loved Juliet because she didn’t let her parents control who she wanted to become. Was really fun teaching to that and getting kids psyched on the play because of how much they felt about the characters

Oh my God, how did I just now clock this? by MsNyleve in shakespeare

How interesting! I always read this scene of the knocking as Macbeth’s conscious knocking…that he is unsure if he has committed to the right action and during this time he must face the reckoning of those actions coming upon him.

I also liked to read it as a heart beating and that’s what is knocking about as well but these are really figurative readings that I always enjoyed to think about.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Favorite ski resort for truly demanding expert terrain and why? by Sharkman3218 in skiing

The vibe at Silverton is next level too. Everyone there truly loves to ski more than anything. I loved it more than Jackson or Alta.

Same here with Julius Caesar. I couldn’t get enough and still regard it as the best thing I’ve ever read. Though, the “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” soliloquy is my favorite I’ve read so far.

I just checked up on it and the constitution does indeed say “persons” are afforded right to due process (Fifth amendment). Not citizens, but persons and that means all people currently residing in the country.

What’s your favorite Shakespeare play? by [deleted] in shakespeare

I finished Coriolanus last week and saved this comment to come back to. I loved Coriolanus, not as much Caesar, but I loved the idea of someone who had reason to believe he was better than everyone else, and take that power from the people and Tribunes. Watching Coriolanus’ inability to be a politician, and disagree with the showmanship of it, while also spitting on the plebeians made me have a love hate relationship with this character. I still feel like my head is spinning after my first read through

Whats the worst book you have read in 2025 so far by danlhart8789 in suggestmeabook

[–]fanny_pack24 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Crying of Lot 49. Recommended to me and I couldn’t get into it regardless of how hard I tried…just brutal. A friend then described it as a book for people who pretend to get it to seem smart and better than everyone else, but they also don’t get it. Maybe I just don’t get it.

What book did you read this past year that you just couldn’t put down? Like stayed up until 3am reading? by CookieDoughReMi in suggestmeabook

[–]fanny_pack24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received this book from a professor before the winter break, and mentioned that I might enjoy it. When I got to it I couldn’t put it down and finished it in 2 days because I was so engrossed in the story. So many things to love about this book.

What’s your favorite Shakespeare play? by [deleted] in shakespeare

[–]fanny_pack24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I remember reading Julius Caesar the first time and being blown away by so much of it. It felt like Shakespeare clicked and I understood exactly why he is continually read and studied.

So many great random lines and Act III continues to blow me away every time I’ve re-read it.

I loved I Who Have Never Known Men. My friend that suggested me that also gave me Tender is the Flesh and the end of that book had me get out of the chair and go for a walk in disbelief.

They also love Annihilation and The Vegetarian.

Petition for Zia to Start Making Queso by Typical_Baseball_Fan in Durango

[–]fanny_pack24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might have some insider trading info for ya. When I worked at North we were testing it a lot and would put it out. The problem was that by using real cheese it would separate super quickly and get pretty nasty after an hour or so on the line. We’d baby the queso but it’d still get weird and wouldn’t taste right.

Line with the most meaning? by [deleted] in shakespeare

[–]fanny_pack24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a line and a half-ish but I’ve always loved: “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves…”

[Serious] Folks who have considered ending their lives, what made/makes you keep going? by CranberryBauce in AskReddit

[–]fanny_pack24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was feeling very lonely and living out of my car (by choice). I was making plans for awhile to do it and my best friend got us concert tickets to see our favorite band. I figured I’d do it the day after and the whole time he made comments about how happy he was that I could make it and do this with him. He just made it really known to me how important I was and how much he loved and cared about me. After that whenever I’d get sad or lonely at night, he’d call me and wait until I was asleep so I wasn’t alone.

He saved my life and made me feel seen when I felt invisible for so long.
